Naming son after childhood sweetheart?

Hi guys! I posed this question on my TTC board in late 07, but now that we're officially pregnant and I'd like to ask you experts.
Okay, I'm really feeling the name Ross for a boy. Possibly Henry Ross or Ross Henry, but def the Ross part. We have a long Greek last name (begins with K) so I feel a short, familiar, easy to pronounce first name is the best bet.
Here's the controversy: Ross is the name of a kid I was very close friends with for about 10 years, ending in college when we went our separate ways. We were never "dating" so to speak, but we were very close and truth be told, I did kiss him once. It was so innocent - 8th grade!! Hahaha, I was very fortunate to go on to have such a great friendship with him for many years after.
I've explained to my DH about my old friend Ross, but I'm afraid I'd always still kinda feel guilty. I just like the name, but it does have a warm place in my heart for my old friend. Do you think it would feel like I was naming our first child after some other man? Or am I right to have a reason to be endeared to the name?
Ross is such a cute, little perfect name for my bean if it weren't for this whole past issue. I have a few childhood friends I'm still in contact with who knew the old Ross as the 2nd pea in my pod, but they promise they won't associate the two.
HELP!!!
:)

My DH is totally cool with it, even referring to our baby as Ross the other day without me saying anything.
No, there was actually nothing romantic between the old Ross & me, it wasn't fraught with tension or anything like that. He was just a goofball who used to hang around.
After school, I moved to Chicago and just never kept in touch.

Thank you! Those are interesting. I really like Rhett, but I'm afraid when I say "Rhett" people are going to be like, "What? Can you repeat that? RED?" and then I'll have to say it again.
I'm paranoid of my kid having to repeat his name/people not understanding the very first time he's introduced. It's been my experience that people who have name I'm unsure of, I am a teeny reluctant to talk to. For instance our insurance lady's name is Dey. You see it written and it's obvious it's pronounced "Day", but in person she had to say it a couple times. We were like "what? Dayne? Tay?"
Anyway. Thanks!!!!
