My boyfriend is half native american- not sure which tribe, his dad died in 1997, and he didn't know him really well. His mom is white. (I am white) so I guess our kid will be 1/4 native american. He wants to give him/her a native american name, but I have no idea where to begin looking. We both like the first name Shianne, but we'd like a native american middle name. Any ideas? Anyone with family members that are native american that I can see their name? Thanks!

My mother is 1/4 Cherokee, unfortunately she knows nothing about her heritage as her mom doesn't like to talk about it. And, I also have Cherokee and Seminole ancestors on my dad's side. Again, they know nothing of their Native American family either. So, I'm no help, but I would also love to learn some Native American names.

Hi both of my great grandmothers were part cherokee. We found the name Tadan (pronounced Ta -den with a long A)in a baby name book and it is native american. We named our son that but changed the spelling to Tadyn. I really liked the name and thought you might too if you are in to unique names.

I'm pretty much 100% European/American mutt (French Canadian, English, Irish) My DH is 1/16th Iroquois but I'm sorry I'm not much help as his name is Christopher. It's sad that the cultures of all these nations are being washed away by whatever problems the generations are having with passing stuff on. DH didn't even know his grandmother. She cut all ties with his father when he married. She just died last year at the age of 92 and took the last of their family knowlage with her. That is something my DH can never recover. :o(

((Hugs)) to you and your BF, Congrats on expecting your little one! Good luck with the name!
