need advice on possible name change!

I need some words of wisdom...we had our new little girl 4 weeks ago. We went to the hospital with 2 names...Charlotte (Johanna) and Julia (Margaret). We love both names equally and had a REALLY hard time deciding. We ended up naming her Charlotte because that's what most of the nurses were voting for and we were so 50/50. Now I'm second guessing our decision (not because I don't like her name, just over-analyzing everything about both names and wondering if we made the right choice).

I'm driving myself crazy I can't even think straight about it anymore. I was so confident about my other daughter's name! Sometimes I think she looks more like a Julia, (but then I wonder if I would think the same thing about Charlotte if we would've gone with Julia).

I need to mail the "name change" paperwork in within a few days if we're going to change it...any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated. Oh, we also have a son, Samuel and a daughter, Ella. Thanks!

I think both names are beautiful. I agree with pp about combining the names.

Don't change it. You're right....if you had gone with Julia, you'd be wondering if she was more of a Charlotte. Keep her name Charlotte and in time, you'll see that she "becomes" more of a Charlotte to you. My little girl is Charlotte and our other choice for her was Annabel and we have asked ourselves many times if she's "more of an Annabel" but ultimately, she has become her name (she's 2 now) and now I can't imagine her as anything BUT Charlotte!

I also think both names are beautiful, but based on your other children's names I'd say you made the right choice already! ;) Since I like both names, I said them each with Samuel and Ella and realized Julia sounds VERY close to Ella when said aloud (say, when you're yelling for - or at LOL - Ella and Julia would would come running, or vice versa LOL). Make sense? So that would probably be the deciding factor for me and I'd definitely say Charlotte is the way to go. ;)

Ps. And if you're still torn, the others' suggestion of combining the two for Charlotte Julia is also a good one, because you'd have the option of using either in the future.

Both names are beautiful, but I defiitely prefer Charlotte Johanna. It's absolutely gorgrous and goes perfectly with your other children. (As Kelli pointed out, Ella and Julia sound awfully similar when said aloud.) I think it's natuaral to second guess yourself and given a little time, you'll wonder how you could have ever imagined naming her anything but Charlotte.

If you're still really torn, the suggestion of Charlotte Julia with the option of calling her either/both is definitely a good one.

I love Charlotte Johanna. I also love Julia Margaret. Both names are classic and feminine, and very pretty. I think it's natural to second-guess yourself, and at only a month old, your daughter hasn't really been able to develop very much of her future personality. I agree that she will grow into her name.

The idea of combining the names is a good one, unless the middle name Johanna is significant as a family name, or is important to you otherwise. I like Julia Charlotte better than Charlotte Julia. And, I think that Julia Charlotte lends itself to being a double name easier than Charlotte Julia. If you call her Julia Charlotte, that takes care of Julia sounding similar to Ella, too.

Let us know what you decide. Good luck!
