Need help on Boy's names

Hi, DH and I are expecting in April and we just found out yesterday it is a boy!

Anyways we thought we had our boy's name picked out, but we aren't sure anymore. The name we had chosen was Desmond. We both still like it a lot, but we're not sure it is the one. Other names we like include Sebastian, Gareth and Alastair. I'm looking for other suggestions though. We want something that isn't biblical (or at least obviously biblical), isn't too out there so no Tomato or Pilot, isn't in the top 100 (would prefer not in the top 300), and is recognizable while not being overly common. Also we won't be using "family names" since traditionally in my family we don't name children after the living, and none of my relatives have died yet in my lifetime (which I really do appreciate). Ranking our current choices would be:

1. Desmond
2. Gareth
3. Sebastian
4. Alastair

Thanks for any help and suggestions.

Darn ... Tomato Pilot was going to be my first suggestion! ;)

Desmond, Gareth, Sebastian and Alastair are all great, btw. If none of them seem to be "the one," however, what about ...

Alair
Aengus/Angus
Clive
Dermot
Dorian/Doran
Drustan
Dunstan
Emmet
Eamon
Ewan/Euan
Felix (374, but I don't think it's rising)
Fergus
Ferris
Fletcher
Galaher/Gallagher
Gannon
Gawain
Gregor
Griffith
Lancelot/Lance
Somerled
Stewart/Stuart
Walden
Wallace/Wallis
Westley

1. Desmond- Love this, very strong and unique
2. Gareth- Like it, but prefer Garrett spelling
3. Sebastian- very nice. I prefer it as a mn as it flows so well
4. Alastair- LOVE this. Prefer Alistair spelling but the name is awesome.

How about...

Beckett

Beckham

Everett

Rhett

Kieran

Silas

Atticus

Malak

Kai

Jonas

Jonah

Felix

Ashton

Wesley

Wade

Beau

Sutton

Calder

Calman

Thane

Nicodemus is biblical but hardly anyone knows it and it is a rare name in the USA.

Maximus
Quentin
Corbin
Bridger
Dimiitri
Thaddeus
Sullivan
Broderick
Bronson

Seamus
Vaughn
Augustus
Roland

I love Gareth, it's high on my list too! My second choice you're considering is Sebastian. Others have given you a ton of names to think about, but I also like Thaddeus. It may fit your style, and I think Thad is a cool nn.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. We actually just added Griffith to our list. In fact it is in the top three now I think.

Unfortunately none of the other names on you list beat out top couple, but thanks for the help.

I like Beckett but unfortunately DH doesn't so it didn't make the list. We also both kind of like Everett and Malak, but not enough to include either. I do appreciate the help though.

Thanks for your suggestions we had debated Quentin and Augustus, but decided we liked our other choices a bit better. Donovan is actually on our list for if we have a second boy, we really like the name, but not for this one.
