Need help on Boy's names

Hi, DH and I are expecting in April and we just found out yesterday it is a boy!

Anyways we thought we had our boy's name picked out, but we aren't sure anymore. The name we had chosen was Desmond. We both still like it a lot, but we're not sure it is the one. Other names we like include Sebastian, Gareth and Alastair. I'm looking for other suggestions though. We want something that isn't biblical (or at least obviously biblical), isn't too out there so no Tomato or Pilot, isn't in the top 100 (would prefer not in the top 300), and is recognizable while not being overly common. Also we won't be using "family names" since traditionally in my family we don't name children after the living, and none of my relatives have died yet in my lifetime (which I really do appreciate). Ranking our current choices would be:

1. Desmond
2. Gareth
3. Sebastian
4. Alastair

Thanks for any help and suggestions.

Yeah we really like Gareth as well. It is currently our front runner.

As for Sebastian I am not too worried about the Little Mermaid connection, unless I decided to name our daughter Ariel. However, we have actually dropped it from our list because while we both like it neither of us likes it more then our other choices. I definitely understand the movie connection and not using a name though, there were a number of names we thought of that we didn't put on the list because of various movie or other connections that didn't appeal to us.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your thoughts. We realize that all the names sound British but we aren't too worried about that. We live in DC so we have people of all cultures around us. Also we both have family roots that go back to England, so British names work for us. The amusing part of the baby's name will be the British first name with the Hindi middle name.
