This is my first pregnancy and I never thought it would be this hard to pick a name. I am having a boy!! jan 25 07! I have a list of names I like but I just want it to be a strong name not something that is popular now but in 20 years everyone will laugh at.
I had the name "Collin Matthew White" picked out for a long time but now it just doesnt sound right.
I really like the name Matthew for first or middle name. Maybe you can give me some suggestions. Here are the names I picked:

MATTHEW
AIDEN
CAMERON
CARSON
CHRISTIAN
COLLIN
DYLAN
MASON
NATHAN
OWEN
RYLAN
SHANE
ZACHARY
GAVIN
ERIK
LOGAN
CHASE

MATTHEW - very sweet name, but also very popular. I prefer it as a mn
AIDEN- First, I will let you know that the proper spelling is Aidan. Secondandly, the name is disguntingly popular, and also its rhyming names are popular (Caden,Braden,Jayden,Hayden, etc.) I would just avoid the whole thing, it is way overdone
CAMERON - Like this, although the meaning throws me off
CARSON - This is nice... strong
CHRISTIAN - Okay
COLLIN - Love it
DYLAN - Like it, sounds like a little rocker
MASON - on its way to being outdated, avoid it
NATHAN - Like this a lot, also like Nathaniel
OWEN - like this a lot
RYLAN - okay, prefer Riley
SHANE - LOVE it, very strong
ZACHARY - nice
GAVIN - LOVE it
ERIK - I really like Eric, but dislike the Erik spelling. I think Collin and Eric would make great brothers if you eventually had 2 boys
LOGAN - So trendy, don't use it! And also very unisex
CHASE - Okay, prefer as a nn... for a girl. Charlotte nn Chase is adorable

To sum up...

I would quickly eliminate Logan, Aiden, Mason, and Chase.

I think the best names on yoru list are Gavin, Shane, Collin, Eric, Nathan, & Owen.

To add to your list:

Hunter

Jonas

Jonah

Nolan

Caleb

Griffin

Grant

Simon

Calman nn Cal

Calder nn Cal

Liam

Tucker

Miles

Wesley

Ian

I just love the name Dylan. It is strong and sounds good on a baby and an old man.

No, I'm not biased.

Hey, First let me say Congrats! Now for my 2 cents. If your looking for a strong name that has long term appeal Erik is probably the best on the list, but I'm not crazy about it personaly and Collin isn't one of my favorites either. If I had to choose my top choices would be Matthew,Dylan,Gavin and Nathan. Good Luck and Best Wishes!

Hope that helps. I also gave my faves a * rating 5 being the best.
Good Luck

MATTHEW~~~ I think it's a great MN

AIDEN ~~~ I'm not a fan of this name, and in 20 years everyone will know the era he was born in...just like the Jennifers of this world...most born between 1970 & 1983

CAMERON ~~~ This name has been made too unisex for me. Making it less strong in my eyes.

CARSON ~~~ I like Carson Matthew alot. I know 2 carsons one 26ish and the other is older maybe 40 both fit their name to a T****

CHRISTIAN ~~~ My area is flooded with "chris" names both male and female, that would be only aversion.

COLLIN ~~~ Its fine if it is pron Coll-in not COLE-in (like the organ)

DYLAN ~~~ Nice name, but not as strong as some of your other choices

MASON ~~~ Thisis my FAVE name. I don't know how you feel about the aliteration with Mason Matthew.

NATHAN ~~~ I love Nathan but not sure how it sounds with mn Matthew

OWEN ~~~Owen Matthew is GREAT!*****

RYLAN ~~~ We have a local homebuilder by this name, so no for me

SHANE ~~~ Not bad, but some others on your list are better

ZACHARY~~~ NMS

GAVIN~~~ Like it, not with Matthew

ERIK~~~ I like Eric, but none of the variations on it

LOGAN~~~ Logan Matthew flows nicely***

CHASE~~~ This is also a personal fave. I like it w/the mn too.*****

I prefer Collin, Gavin, Dylan and Owen from your list. These names seem to be the least trendy and could stand the test of time. (I LOVE Owen!) A friend just named their little boy Mace Mathew. What do you think? If you love Mason, it is a nice alternative.

Good Luck & Congrats!!!
