Need help with a girls name...
| Sun, 01-01-2006 - 9:54am |
I'm looking for a girls name that's not too common (a unique name),or something with an old feel to it.
I liked Angelique, Delilah, and I love Nyasia. My husband says no to every name I like. He likes Juliet.
I have a 10 year old Desiree Alexis and a 7 1/2 month old Jaylon Alexander.
Thanx in advance for your help!
Guelsy

Hmmm...
Not too common:
Devanie (dd#2's name)
Abrielle (dd#1's mn)
Devri
Delanie
Maya/Mya (maybe more common than some)
Nyah (know a little girl named this ... not sure of the spelling but it sounds like Maya with an N; thought maybe your husband would like it as an alternative to Nyasia)
Addiena
Sapphira
Delia
Dara
Daria
Deliah (these last three as alternatives to Delilah)
Tabitha
Azriel
An "old feel":
Aveline (we're considering for dd#3)
Adeline/Adelyn
Madeline/Madelyn
Maisy
Sophia
Mary (not uncommon, but I don't know that many little Marys anymore)
Ava
Genevieve/Genevie (maybe you'd like this better than your husband's suggestion of Juliet?)
Raquel (taking your Q from Angelique)
All I can think of offhand. HTH! :)

Yours is only the second Abrielle I've heard of (and of course the other was born here the day before DS--good thing he wasn't a girl or I would have looked like a copycat!)
Not at all. Her full name is actually Kaitlyn Abrielle. I just fell in love with the name, but I didn't think it went well with our last name (and couldn't NOT use it lol) so made it her middle. I've seen it credited as Hebrew, Italian or French (although, really, even the Italian and French versions go back to Hebrew, because they all have the same meaning). It's basically the feminine form of Abraham, meaning mother of many nations. Obviously, it works well as a form of Gabrielle/Gabriel too, since the names are so close (so I think it suits your family well!). Another version is Abra.
Ooh, and as long as we're discussing it ... Genevie (another middle name we've considered with our youngest girls) could also be a feminine take on Eugene for you. Abrielle Genevie. :) Just a thought!

Sure. :) Just like the name Devin with an ee sound at the end ... Dev-uh-nee (I'm bad at typing out pronunciations ... hope that gets you close enough lol). We've always loved it, and you're welcome to it as well. ;)
HTH!
