I would go with Jackson Thomas. Since your nephew doesn't usually go by Thomas, and your son probably won't use Thomas in his everyday life, I don't see it as a problem.

I don't think not having a middle name is a huge deal, but I do think that not using one just because you can't find one you like, when there are thousands of names out there, is a bit strange. Jackson Thomas is fabulous and I do not think it is "stealing" the name. I think it is so important to use names with meaning. Would you consider Jack instead of Jackson? A little less trendy and more classy, and then Jack Michael wouldn't be a problem. I think Jackson Carter is okay, but too surnamey.

ETA Whoohoo for you not spelling it "Jaxon" or "Jaxxon"- ick!!

I am having a girl in Sept and we have no clue what we are naming her yet but had she been a boy the name would have been Jackson Thomas so that definitely gets my vote! : )

I have always wanted to honor my father by using his name as a part of one of my sons names. My father's name is Larry Dennis and he has never liked either of his names. I tend to agree with him! So when our second son was born we gave him my maiden name as his mn - both of my parents cried when we told them, even my father-in-law cried! Perhaps this would be a way to honor your father's memory too... without feeling like you're stealing a name from your nephew. Though with the first name being Jackson you may feel like the end result is too surnamey (is that a word?).

Otherwise I think Jackson Thomas is a fabulous name and shouldn't make any difference with your nephew's name.

Oh, and I agree that you should stay away from Michael! That would be asking to have your son get picked on... What's your brother's mn??
