Need a long name for nn Billie
| Mon, 02-20-2006 - 8:54pm |
I need brutal honesty here.
My husband likes Billie for a girl, and I do, too - but I want to give our daughter a long name for which Billie's a nn, so she has a choice. Problem is, Billie is technically short for Wilhelmina, and I think that's pretty hideous.
Can I get away with Belinda as the long name, Billie for short? Is that too big a stretch?
Any other suggestions?

Belinda with nn Billie is fine! I also thought about Elisabeth, people use the nn Libby which isn't far off Billie, which could work? Couldn't think of anything else, but Elisabeth/Elizabeth gives you another option.

I don't think its a stretch to have Billie as a nn for Belinda - its sounds good.
Other names you could possibly use Billie as a nn for (though they may not be to your taste!)
Willamena (similar to Wilhelmina but I think it looks and sounds nicer)
Willa
Wilda
Wilona
Wilma
Willow
The only ones I really like are Willa and Willow (although Willamena is growing on me!) but even then I think Belinda is better.
HTH and Good Luck xxx
I happen to love Wilhelmina! But, not fond of Billie. But, I do think Belinda would work as a full name for it! And, Belinda is pretty. Good luck,
