My husband and I both love the first name Emmylou, but it is hard to find a middle name that works with it. Any suggestions? :)

Emmylou Shae (or however you spell Shae/Shea/Shay) was the first thing that popped into my brain. Its a nice middle name I think.

Emmylou as a given name is something I'm having a really hard time picturing an adult, professional woman with. You might want to consider that, it's awfully babyish sounding, very childish sounding.

What if you named her Emma Louise, Emma Lucille, or Emma Luanne or Emily Louise, Emily Lucille or Emily Luanne and called her EmmyLou as a nickname while she's a child. that way, she could move on to just Emma or Emily as an older teen or adult if she wished

honestly, Emmylou sounds more like somewhat of a "pet" name even moreso than a nickname, but "pet" I don't mean an animal pet, I mean like a "daddy's girl" sort of term that a family member would use.

good luck though

I think Elizabeth goes well with Emmylou...it sounds very proper and old fashioned. But also unique and cute!

I think a one-syl name would go best...
Emmylou Grace
Emmylou Faith
Emmylou Faye
Emmylou Anne
Emmylou Mae
Emmylou Shea
Emmylou Claire
Emmylou Lane
Emmylou Hope
Emmylou Maeve

I agree with Emmylou Mae from the previous message. I think that would be very pretty. Also perhaps Emmylou Jane?
