Need a name impression...

Hello! I was a regular on this board ages and ages ago, and I'm back to seek opinions on a name. I'm expecting baby number four, having three boys already. My son's names are Evan, Jameson and Griffin. If we have another boy, I am considering the name Kellen. I like the fact that it's not too common, but not too out of the ordinary. I also like that it ends in the letter "N" like the other boys' names.

My concern is, that it would be confused for the name "Kelly", which I absolutely hate for a boy. I can't stand overused names, like Ryan or Jacob

well, there are too pro football players named Kellen - Winslow (Cleveland Browns, he's Kellen Winslow Jr - his dad Sr also played pro football) - and Kellen Clemens (NY Jets)

BUT, I know two little girls very well named Kellan - one just finished kindergarten here in my granddaughter's school (she was also in kdg, but in the afternoon whereas Kellan was in the morning) and the other one will be in kindergarten next year (different school district, about an hour away, but I know her parents and grandparents very well)

so, don't know what to tell you - I agree with you that all the aden names should be nixed because of the popularity of all of them and that when you hear any of them now it seems like they're all lumped together - but Gage is not a made-up name, it really is a name, I know a few and a few of them I know are not little kids

if you don't like Gage, that's fine, don't use it, but it's not a made-up name - I don't think you should use Gage anyway, because you have a G in Griffin and a J in James and Gage is a soft G like Jameson

other n-enders that might work with Evan, Jameson and Griffin are:

Brennan, Colton, Dalton, Holden, Keegan, Landon, Mason, Payton, Tristan

I concede t hough that Payton is unisex - it's just one of the very few unisex names I like on a boy

the 3 of those that I really like are Holden, Keegan and Landon

I find it male...but I had Kell on our list for our son, so I obviously like the sound. But a lot of people limit the gender of names because of similar-sounding names (overlooking the fact that different names come from different linguistic backgrounds that might have different naming patterns,) so while I would encourage you to use Kellen, some people might think of Kelly. I don't. I just think it's handsome.

My husband works with a guy named Kellen, and I don't think it is ever confused for Kelly, nor do I think it sounds girly. We also like names that are not exactly "normal" and I think Kellen fits that category. The other good thing about that name is that it is good for a little boy or

Hi Linda!

If you LOVE the name you should use it, it's different and I personally havent heard it. And there are alot more names out there that boys are being named that are more girly. I think its a great name!

I've only know one Kellen. I think it was spelled like Kelen, but I'm not sure. After knowing them, I've always thought of this more as a girl name. I couldn't see it on a boy. Sorry.

Kellen does get a bit lost in the crowd and may be just a tad feminine.

How about:
