Need a new "A" name

Tue, 10-10-2006 - 1:41pm

My dh and I have been discussing names and I thought we had agreed on Aubrey Lynn for our daughters name (if it's a girl) and Andrew John (if it's a boy) for our son.Our ddnameis Alyssa Kay, and I'm staying with naming our children with the same letter (I know some don't like this..). On my mom's side of the family this is a tradition (my mom and her sisters are all "T" Tamra Ree, Tara Rae, and Tanya Alicia and my siblings are Dustin Edward, Davin Gerald, Deanna Leigh, and Dakota Tanya Marie with myself Danielle Rae.)

Anyway, last night my dh told me we were not naming our girl Aubrey (now he doesn't like it)...any suggestions? I like Arica Lynn...any help would be great!!

Arica is not my style, mostly b/c it's a misspelled version of a traditional name. Erica is okay (although not my favorite either), but obviously that wouldn't work for you.

Some other A names you and your DH may like...
Audrey
Audra
Adrienne
Adrianna
Adele/Adela
Ariel
Ada
Addison
Adeline
Adelaide
Ava
Avery
Amanda
Ashley
Alaina
Andrea
Angela
Anna
Annabel/Annabelle
Amaya
Amelia
Amy

Hope that gives you a few more ideas!

I don't mine when parents use the same letter for all their kids names. I do, however, have a problem with people misspelling names to cram them into that pattern. If you like the name Erica, name her that and ditch the pattern. If you really want to stick with the pattern, find a real A name (there are tons of gorgeous A names) and please please please do not name her "Arica".

I really like Alyssa, Andrew and Aubrey. Maybe your husband will change his mind again and decide he likes Aubrey after all. If not here, are some more A names you might like:

Abigail

Addison
Adele

I think using the same 1st letter is fine, some don't, but its your family.
As for Arica (not a fan)

Here are some "A" names with MN suggestions

Adrianna Lynn
Alexis Rae
Alexa Lynn (Like this one)
Amber Lynn
Adrienne Rae
Angeline Rae
Andrea Lynn
Abigail Lynn or Rae
Alanna Leigh
Ananda Rae, Lynn, Leigh
April Rae (really like this one)
Aja Lynn
Ashley Rae
Amanda Lynn
Arianna Lynn
Audra Lynn, Leigh

Good Luck. HOpe that gives you some place to start

Thanks to everyone and their opinions. Some names that are out of question due to already being in the family are

Addison
Arianna
Ashley

And I don't care for

Amy
Alexa (know someone with this name)
Ariel (while I like it, it reminds me of The Little Mermaid)

I do like Alanna Leigh (actually was one I had thought about, but thought it may be too much and not sound good with Alyssa Kay). Still hoping to work on dh about Aubrey Lynn...have 9 weeks to do it!!
Thanks :) Danielle

Arica is horrible. Erica is lovely. Why use an A name if you dont love it?
