NEED A NICKNAME

Hi- we are naming our baby boy Charles James III. I don't like it, but it was important to my husband who is a Junior. I don't like any derivatives either like Chad, Charlie or Jimmy. Does anyone know any nicknames related to being a III? I also don't like Tre or Trip. I'm stumped as to what to call this child.

Thanks for all suggestions on nicknames. I was leaning towards CJ, but I like the suggestion of Jay too. Thanks.

Oh I wish I could remember one of my friends nn's in their family in regards to being a third. I will have to ask her - in my family we have a II, and his nn is Duce....

Totally different, but fitting for him!

I don't know what you last name is, but you might consider looking to that for a nickname. I've known several people who were called by some variation of their last names. For examle a kid named Austin was called Mac because his last name started with that (and actually this was something his parents had planned to do all along). A girl I knew was named Amanda but called Tillie b/c her last name was Tilleston (or something like that).

Another option, and I don't really like it but feel like I should mention it, is to name him Charles James III and call him whatever you want. My parents had a friend they always called Peter. Then once after I babysat for his kids, he wrote me a check from Warren something III. I was pretty confused. Turns out his father thought it was important for him to continue the family name, but his mother always wanted a son named Peter. The "compromise" was to name him one thing and call him something else! Personally I think this could become complicated and would require explaining to every teacher, boss, etc. the child ever has, so if you can manage to get along with CJ or some other nickname, that would be the easiest way, but if there's another name you really, really want, I suppose you could always call him that.
