So far, my husband and I have agreed on three names. They are ; Alex Charles (we're carrying on his family's tradition with the first born son having the family middle name), Neil no mn yet, and Alora Lynn, as both of our mother's middle name is lynn. I'm glued to Alora Lynn, so if we have a daughter, that will be her name. Alex Charles isn't sounding well put together though. Any thoughts?

I love Alora! Although Lynn wouldn't be my first choice flow-wise, I can understand the significance to you.
I like Neil, but I'm confused about the no mn yet question ... do you mean you're considering Alex Charles for a first son and Neil if and when you have a second?
As to Alex Charles, I think the reason it doesn't quite sound "put together" is that Alex as a given name sounds very abrupt and unfinished, at least to my ear. Perhaps use a longer form or variation of the name and call him Alex as a nn if that's your preference -- Alexander (obviously, although all Alex- names seem to be really popular right now), Alasdair/Alistair, Alessandro, Alexandros, Graham (for Alexander Graham Bell ... more of a stretch, but a cute twist on it, esecially if you're history buffs or anything), Hamilton (for Alexander Hamilton). ;)
