Need opinions on names for twins...
| Wed, 10-20-2004 - 11:53am |
We are expecting twins and do not know the sex at this point, so we are picking two names for each. Our other children's names are Joseph Tyler (Joey), Ashlynn Taylor (Ashlynn), Donald Austin (Austin), Lance Eli (Eli) and Jacob Colton (Jake). We are considering the following names for the twins, but I'm not sure how they fit with the rest of our children's names. Any alternative ideas would be great!!
Girls:
Mary Elizabeth (maybe Ella, Lizzy or Mary Ella)
Margaret Ann (Maggie or Maggie Ann)
both girl names are old family names, but may seem too "old fashioned" compared to our others.
Boys:
Jaxon West (Jax)
?????
As you can see, we need help!!!

Sorry that I can't offer any great boy name possibilities because I don't really know your tastes, but I think Jaxon and/or NN Jax are just too close for comfort to your DS Jake's name. JMHO! No offense or anything!
I tend to agree with your opinion of Jax being too close to Jake, but after four boys we are really struggling for any options. DH is considerably older than I and his tastes are quite different - his top two choices are Calvin DeWayne and Frank - neither of which are my style. I would tend to pick something more modern and trendy, but we have always compromised on traditional and popular names. Ashlynn was really pushing it with him and he only agreed if he got to pick the middle name. John or Jonathan are possibilities, but we haven't found a middle name to go with either. I'm almost ready to give up and go with Baby A and Baby B if they are both boys!!

I like your girls name choices - but think Ella might be too close to Eli.
My favorite nn for Elizabeth is Liza. I think Liza and Maggie would be great twin names and would fit with your other kids. I also like Meg as a nn. Liz and Meg would be cute too.
For boys, I agree that Jax and Jake are very close in sound.
I love Jonathon. How about Jonathan Franklin or Jonathan Dwayne (to get your DH's choices in there).
How about pairing Jonathan with another classic name - that's not too old-fashioned.
Jonathan and Nicholas
Jonathan and Alexander
Jonathan and Christopher
Jonathan and Samuel
Jonathan and Nathanial
Jonathan and Lucas
Jonathan and Benjamin
Jonathan and William
Calvin, Dwayne (I prefer Duane spelling) or Franklin would be great middle names for a lot of these combos.
Good luck!
I really like your girl names, and I don't think the nicknames you picked seem old-fashioned at all! They are all nice.
I really don't care for Jaxon spelled this way, and I think Jake and Jack/Jax could get confusing!
Some names that might fit with your style:
Jesse
Colby
Luke
Parker
Brett
Weston (West)
Wyatt
