I love this name. I think its working its way up to becoming popular, but not so much as other names. I don't think there will be three Isabellas in your daughter's class if you decide on this name. Honestly, I doubt there will even be two. I think you're safe with this name on popularity. Its very nice. I like Isabella Leanne a lot. Second favourite is Isabella Rose. Here are ten other girly names you might want to consider: Gabriella Sophia Adrianna Lilianna Emma Ashleigh Mairi Lara Lauren Annalise
I don't know anyone named Isabella (only on TV). I think it is a great classic feminine name. I wouldn't worry about there being more than one Isabella in her class either!
Isabella's a name I hear in MA all the time! It's very popular for the under 5 set and I think Isabella ranked #4 statewide here last year. We're inundated with Emily/Emma/Oliva/Isabella/Abigails here. It's pretty and my favorite combo is Isabella Fleur. If you're in New England anywhere, here are a few princessy feeling suggestions instead of Isabella:
Arabella (gets that Bella in there, but is hardly ever heard anywhere. On the downside, she may have to correct people who think they're hearing Isabella yet again)
Camilla (despite Charles' new wife, it's a lovely, timeless name. I adore Milla as a nickname.)
Cecilia (It's been falling down the charts for the last 20 years. A Cecilia today is truly a stand out choice and I adore the nicknames Celia & Cece!)
Julia/Julianna (I prefer the more classic Julia. It's a lovely, feminine name that can go anywhere!)
Penelope (As Penny or Nell, Penelope's a timeless classic that isn't used much at all. She'll definitiely stand out in a sea of Isabellas.)
and my personal all time favorite (I'm biased, I have one):
Josephine (Not classified a timeless classic but it should be; Josephine has been in constant use but isn't used often. Last year there were only 1300 girls named Josephine which is next to nothing if you compare it to girls named Emma! Josephine also has a host of nicknames, from Jo to Fifi... one of them is guaranteed to fit a girl!)
If you live anywhere near Philadelphia then I'd say it's way too popular. I know and have heard of many Isabellas in Philadelphia, the PA burbs and NJ burbs surrounding Philly. Maybe it's because of the high Italian population around here. Isabella seems to be a good fit with all those Italian last names. It's a great name but it's definitely saturated in and around Philly.
Have you ever heard of "Trinda"? That's my daughter's name (Trinda Marie) and I've always loved it--unique, but not difficult to pronounce or spell. I have only heard of 3 other "Trinda"s. It is never listed in any baby name websites.
I think Isabella is a great name -
