Hey everyone. Just curious what you think. My friend had her baby today and named her Camelyn, I thought maybe her dh said Cameron, so I asked him to repeat it, still wasnt sure, so he spelled it for me. Her name is Cameyln Annelise Fontaine. What do you guys think of Camelyn? Pronounced Cam-uh-lyn Is it a real name? If so, does anyone know what it means? Apparently they are gonna call her Cami. It was between Camelyn and Camden but they wouldnt tell anyone their names while she was pregnant because they didnt want any opinions.

NN Cami is adorable, but I am not a fan of Camelyn. Reminds me of a camel... and just seems overall trendy and madeup.

Sorry ... sounds like they named her after a Camel. Camille would have been nice. Even Cameron's 100% better.

LOL, all I can see is the word camel in there! I might even be so kind to point that out to your friend that camel is a big part of her babies name while she still has the chance to change it.

well, i think it has potential to be ok, but I don't like that spelling because the part that stands out the most to me is 'camel'... maybe Camilyn would look nicer in my opinion. It's not the worst thing I've ever heard of but it's definately not something I would use, I do like Camille or Camilla though.

never heard it before, but it doesn't surprise, it's kind of a trend to start having alternatives to known names - in this instance, an alternative to Cameron

I don't like how it starts out with Camel, but...... you know, anything goes these days - Cami is a cute nn

ITA that it looks like 'camel', maybe they could salvage it by pronouncing it 'cami-lyn'. The other sounds like 'camel-in'. The pr. cami-lyn sounds sort of pretty and makes the nn Cami seem more intuitive to me.

It's too similar to Camelot for my taste, but I like Cami as a nn.

Camelyn gets a big thumbs down. Its made up and way to out there. Like someone else said it reminds me of a Camel. But the NN

I completely disagree that you should say ANYTHING to your friend except "Congratulations, she's beautiful!!" They're adults. If they'd wanted the opinions of others they would have asked. They obviously DON'T want the opinions of others b/c they chose to keep the name a secret until s/he was born, and said as much. JUST GO WITH IT and love her, love her baby. NEVER share your opinion about this; I believe you'd regret doing so. I personally think it's somewhat pretty/okay. Perhaps it's a combination of some family names or something.

Well, them's my two cents! ;)
