New Grandaughter - finally!

Just wanted to let you know that we finally have a new grandaughter. They decided on Adelie Renee. They wanted something French and her dh wouldn't go for Adele (which was the name that we all wanted) He settled for Adelie. Renee is the mothers MN.

We still have another coming soon I hope through adoption. Not sure of the sex yet. We are still needing ideas because at this point nothing seems to stick. These are the names that they like so far:

Boy - either Thatcher or Sawyer. Do you have any other suggestions that are similar to these?

Girl - Maradyn (Meridyn), Kendall, or Sheridyn. They really don't like Mary or Sheri as NN'a so they are not sure about those two names. They like the "y" because their other daughter is Jocelyn. Let me know if you've come across something that would work for them.

My mother's maiden name was Hartley and my brother is Keith Hartley. My daughter has even toyed with the idea of naming a girl Hartley (fn) after her grandmother. She was very close to my mother so she would like to honor her but her name was Clista Madge Hartley and none of us care for her name. Is Hartley too much? Let me know WYT.

Congrats on the new baby!

Boys: Thatcher or Sawyer type names. Of these names I would chose Sawyer
Beckett
Bennett
Easton
Harrison
Pierce
Elliot
Hudson
Mitchell

Girls: Of the 3 that they have chose none of them are my style. Also, Maradyn and Sheridyn are kind of matchy with Jocelyn. Kendall sounds trendy next to Jocelyn.
Hartley - I like this a lot - I think that Jocelyn and Hartley would be cute sisters
Calista or Calla - this could be another way to honor your mother
Mallory
Audrey/Aubrey
Sabrina
Amelia
Charlotte

Thanks for your suggestions. We have a large family and that has created quite a problem in choosing names. Alot of the ones that we like are already taken.

I too like Bronwyn but not sure they will. I'll run it by them. I thought of Camille the other day also and thought it would go well with Jocelyn. Their last name is Erbe (like herb) so it makes it alittle harder.

If you come up with any other suggestions let me know.

Thanks

Congratulations on little Adelie! ;)

Here are some suggestions for the other.

Similar to Thatcher or Sawyer:

Fletcher
Carter
Chandler
Marshall
Cooper
Tanner
Parker
Spencer
Dexter
Tucker
Baxter
Archer
Bridger
Foster
Miller
Wagner
Warner
Ward

Girl names aren't quite as easy to suggest, since none of the ones they're considering are my style at all, especially with Jocelyn (I'd definitely avoid another -yn ending ... makes them sound comical together, rather than complimentary). I do love Hartley, however, especially with its personal meaning for them. I also think the suggestion of adding the A and using Calista to honor her is a nice one.

Thanks! Nice list:

Fletcher - a major highway in our area.
Carter - like it but not with Erbe
Chandler - the last name of our good friend. LOVE IT!
Marshall - twin to my son Mitchell
Cooper - my son's dog. Love it
Tanner - too common here
Parker - Same as Tanner
Spencer - Same
Dexter and Baxter I like but my daughter didn't. I really like Baxter
Archer - not sure why but don't care for it much.
Bridger - This was one of our favorites till our cousin named her baby that.
Foster - no, I've had 42 foster children in our home so it just feel strange.
Miller - Too "last name" sounding.
Wagner - no
Warner - I like but my daughter doesn't
Ward - again it's a neighbor.

Calista just sounds like we are mispronouncing my mothers name so it would be hard to use it. I think it's very pretty though.

We are really loving Hartley at this time. There are alot of options with it. What do you think of Hartley Madge (my mothers MN0) Hartley Uriah (my Grandfathers MN) Audra Hartley (I had an aunt Audrey), Hartley Dawn (daughters MN). WDYT? Thanks

Congrats! And good luck with the adoption process!

I wanted to say that I really like Thatcher! I think it's similar in style to other English occupation names (Chandler, Hunter, etc.) but is still different because it's uncommon. It sounds very masculine, which I like.

For a girl, I love the idea of using Hartley! I also like other posters' suggestion of Callista. Either would be a great choice.

Good luck to your family!

Congrats on the new little girl! Adelie is *gorgeous*.

Thatcher & Sawyer are both very cute. They have a similar vibe for sure, & either one would be a nice & uncommon choice. I think that I personally like Thatcher a bit more, just because it leads to the fun nn of Thatch, whereas Sawyer just leads to nothing other than 'Soy'.

Great point about "Soy". I'm glad you like Thatcher. When you get a chance read my other posts because we have kinda started to narrow it down. I have several posts going at once and I know it's very confusing. Let me know what you think cause I value you opinion. Thanks
