Hi! I'm finally a member and posting now. I'm 27 and my husband and I have been trying for 6 months now with no luck yet. I'm still confident that our time is coming. We toss out names all the time. We like Grant Michael now for a boy, but that could change daily. We always come up with boys names. The trouble is coming up with a girls name that we both like. Right now we both like Makenna Jaye, but not totally in love with that name. Any suggestions on girls names that fit that style?

Girl names you might like:

Kenzie (I love it)

Kendall

Paige

Melody

Miranda

Alyssa

Marissa

Callie

Jessamyn (doesn't really seem your style, but I wish someone would use it)

Savannah

You might not like any, but they are similar in style to me, as Makenna.

I like Grant Michael.

Welcome to the board!

By the way, we had our first son easily, but when it came to the second, tried and tried and tried to no effect. Finally went to the dr..........which for some reason we'd been avoiding.........and with Clomid (a fertility pill), were pregnant within 5 months. My boys are 7 years apart, and I just think I could've avoided a lot of worry and pain if I'd done it sooner! For someone your age, 6 months is plenty of time to get pregnant and most drs will see you after 6 months of trying. Just FYI.

Hi Rachel,

Welcome to the board. Like you, my dh and I have been trying for our first child for some time as well. We're in our thirties so for us things feel pretty urgent. We're giving things another month then my dh will go for some tests. At the end of the year I'll be going for tests as well if nothing happens. Just so you know, since you're an iVillage member now, there is a board here for those of us "TTC Your First Child." (Just click the Parentsplace's message boards link above and you'll find it.) The women there are incredible and you will learn tons about your body and the information needed to conceive.

As for names ... Grant Michael is nice. I'm not a big fan of Makenna but that is just because it isn't the style of names I typically like. I like the more old-fashioned names that a lot of our grandmother's generation has. So, I'll have to think about names that go along with the style of Makenna. There are, however, plenty of other women on this board whose style may be more similiar to yours and I know they will be a great help. We have a good group here and there are lots of different naming styles on this board. So, please make yourself at home and join in our naming fun.

Again welcome and Good luck TTC that baby.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do like the name Kendall, but a friend of mine used that name. I also like Callie, but not totally in love with that name. I think it's a cute girlie name. I have never heard of Tamsen though. The problem is that I'm a teacher so I hear names and associate it with my students. I had a student named Tamara and that wasn't a good situation. It reminds me too much of that. I do like that it's unique. I like Makenna, but it is becoming too popular. Just like the name Jayden. Like it a lot, but becoming too popular. What about the name Preston? What do you think?
