Ok Tracy - Here goes:
Boys:
Aidan

I think you have two basic lists going on here...the "current" list (surnames, Gaellic names) and the list that I think might be more "you"--the "old-timey" names. (I mean, you're loving HAROLD right now. That should give us a major cue!) So I'm going to break the lists up into those before commenting.
Current Boys:
Aidan: Through-the-roof popular; I like the name, but I'm really bored of it.
Callum: I love this one, through and through. It's not trendy, though Irish names are a trend and it rolls off the tongue beautifully.
Carter: I love this one, too.
Chase: Honestly, I can't get behind this one. It sounds pompous to me, like it's trying too hard.
Ciaran: A nice enough name.
Cohen: I like Coen, but Cohen is a religious title and as such should only (imho) be used if you're Jewish.
Connor: A bit done.
Cooper: For some reason, I have a hard time taking it seriously. Mini Coopers, maybe?
Ethan: A nice name, a strong name, nothing earth-shattering, but very good.
Evan: Very much the same as Evan.
Finnegan: Only if you've read "Finnegan's Wake." And understood it. (I didn't.)
Griffin: A very handsome name. Jump on it now before the generation that grew up with Harry Potter has children and you'll be ahead of the naming trend.
Jude: I was hard-pressed to decide whether this belonged here or on the Old-Timey list, but I put it here because of Jude Law (who was the deciding factor as to why our son was not named Jude--he'd just been outed as flinging with his nanny at the time.)
Liam: I love this, and terribly wanted to use it on a boy, but it shot up alarmingly (it's cooled down since) and we have a VERY common last name.
Owen: See Ethan and Evan.
Spencer: Less nouveau-riche than Chase, but possibly as pretentious...but I like it for some reason.
Sullivan: I never know what to make of it...maybe it's just too much of a mouthful for me, and I can't fall in love with Sully as a nn.
Old-Timey Boys:
Alfred: I can't get past the butler in the Batman comic books, and Alfie just brings us back to Jude Law.
Arthur: I can see some charm here.
Charlie: Only as a nn...it's adorable on a small boy, but the grown man Charlie might like to be Charles sometimes.
Drake: I...ummm...I put this here because my husband played Drake the butler in "Annie." I like it.
Elliot: This has always been a bit weak to me, and the flaky "girl with a boy's name" on Scrubs (her reference) hasn't helped.
Harold: It has potential.
Henry: It's growing on me.
Jasper: I love it.
Simon: I could love it on someone else's kid.
Current Girls:
Carly: This seems substanceless to me.
Charlie: Only as a nn. Grown-up Charlie might wish she were Charlotte or Charlize.
Chelsea: I'm really not sure...it feels a bit dated, but that needn't be a bad thing. It just means that there aren't masses of other people using it today!
Isabella: And masses are using this one today.
Lainey: As a nn for Elaine, great. On its own, too cutesy for words.
Rory: It lacks content.
Tegan: Not bad, not my style, but not bad.
Old-Timey Girls:
Betsy: I like it as a nn.
Elisabeth: Some names are classics for a reason. This is one.
Madeleine: This is another...though it does seem to be everywhere these days.
Molly: I have a hard time with this on adults. Adorable on a small girl, but on an adult...nah. Give the girl a name she can grow into and use Molly on the side.
Victoria: It's not my style, but there's a lot to be said for it. It has umph and it can definitely sizzle if it needs to.
My faves from your list are:
Boys:
Charlie
Ciaran (I like it spelled Kieran)
Finnegan
Griffin
Henry
Jasper
Jude
Liam
Sullivan
Girls:
Charlie (Charlotte)
Elisabeth (nn Betsy)
Rory
Tegan
From your boys' list, my favourites are Cohen, Evan and Spencer. Cohen and Evan, in my opinion, are both strong, masculine names that are not too common. Spencer is a name that I have really liked for a long time; it's my little boy's name!
From your girls' list, I like Elisabeth, Madeleine and Victoria. Classy, feminine names with several nickname possibilities.
Good luck!
Lori-Ann

Connor*

Oh my gosh - what a list! LOL!
I really like Jasper!!
Jude
Charles
Sullivan - Sulli
Girls:
Lainey
Charlie
Teagan
Great lists!
Here are my thoughts:
Boys:
Aidan-I really like Aidan, but would not recommend using it. There are bound to be five in his kindergarden class. Of course your ds would be the only one who has his name spelled correctly.
Alfred-I love Alfie, but Alfred seems too stuffy.
Arthur-Cute. I like Artie too.
Callum-I love it!!!
Carter-This is nic, but sort of popular. It doesn't sparkle too much anymore.
Charlie-I love Charlie. Adorable.
Chase-Cute. I like it. I like Charles nn Chase also. Or Chester?
Ciaran-Very handsome. Could possibly have pronouciation issues.
Cohen-I don't really like this one too much.
Connor-I really like this spelled Conor. In any case, there are way too many little kids running around called this.
Cooper-I just can't get into this one.
Drake-This is fine, but it doesn't do much for me.
Elliot-Very handsome.
Ethan-Way too popular, & not very exciting.
Evan-Nice. It's not too fantastic, but I do like it.
Finnegan-Aw, very nice. I love Finney.
Griffin-This isn't bad, but it's not amazing.
Harold-Very cute. I love the nn Harry as well.
Henry-I love love love Henry. Excellent.
Jasper-Very nice.
Jude-I love Jude. Also as a nn for Julian.
Liam-I love Liam.
Owen-Very popular, but a great strong name.
Simon-Aw, too cute.
Spencer-Very nice.
Sullivan-That's cool, & the nn Sully is really fun
Girls:
Betsy-That's sweet, but it really needs to be a nn for Elisabeth imo.
Carly-Meh.
Charlie-No no. Keep it on your boy list only.
Chelsea-Meh.
Elisabeth-Yes. Elisabeth nn Betsy!
Isabella (Bella)-This is pretty, but very very popular.
Lainey-Cute as a nn. Would you consider Elaine/a nn Lainey?
Madeleine-I love it. I'd beware of all of the Maddies running around though. Maybe you like Madeleine nn Maisie or Molly? Or...Madelaine nn Lainey? Yes!
Molly-Cute. I like it as a nn really.
Rory-Same as above.
Tegan-Meh.
Victoria-That's fine. Victoria nn Rory is fun.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for all of the replies. I think we've changed the girl list a bit, and now we have middle names. Just for some background information. DH is Charles. He does not want to name a son after him, but he would like to use Charley for a girl possibly. My middle name is Lee, and our number one girl pick right now is Rory Lee. Here are the rest of the names with middle name options. Let me know what you think of these now. DH loves shorter, nicknamey names on their own. He really likes...Rory, Bella, Charley, Lainey, Layla, and Lilah. On the other hand, he also likes Elisabeth, Madeleine, and Victoria.
Rory Lee (our #1 pick)
Bella Charley (DH likes Bella on it's own)
Betsy Chase (DH likes Chase, and he goes by Chas)
Carly Elisabeth (DH loves Elisabeth)
Charley Elisabeth
Chelsea Elisabeth
Elisabeth Charley
Lainey Chase (DH likes Lainey on it's own)
Laila Charley/Layla Charley (which spelling?)
Lila Charley/Lilah Charley (again, which spelling?)
Madeleine Charley (DH picked this)
Molly Chase
Tegan Charley
Victoria Charley (DH picked this)
Thanks,
Tracy
Boys:
Aidan--done to DEATH.
