Thanks for all of the replies. I posted this in the old thread, but I don't think anyone saw it because it was a reply to my original list. I think we've changed the girl list a bit, and now we have middle names. Just for some background information. DH is Charles. He does not want to name a son after him, but he would like to use Charley for a girl possibly. My middle name is Lee, and our number one girl pick right now is Rory Lee. Here are the rest of the names with middle name options. Let me know what you think of these now. DH loves shorter, nicknamey names on their own. He really likes...Rory, Bella, Charley, Lainey, Layla, and Lilah. On the other hand, he also likes Elisabeth, Madeleine, and Victoria.
Rory Lee (our #1 pick)
Bella Charley (DH likes Bella on it's own)
Betsy Chase (DH likes Chase, and he goes by Chas)
Carly Elisabeth (DH loves Elisabeth)
Charley Elisabeth
Chelsea Elisabeth
Elisabeth Charley
Lainey Chase (DH likes Lainey on it's own)
Laila Charley/Layla Charley (which spelling?)
Lila Charley/Lilah Charley (again, which spelling?)
Madeleine Charley (DH picked this)
Molly Chase
Tegan Charley
Victoria Charley (DH picked this)
Thanks,
Tracy

Great List -
Rory Lee (our #1 pick) - I love this - have you decided against Victoria nn Rory?
Bella Charley (DH likes Bella on it's own) - it is ok, I feel like if you have a Rory it will be too frilly next to it
Betsy Chase (DH likes Chase, and he goes by Chas) - if you went with this one - I would use Elisabeth and call her Betsy (that way he gets the name he loves too)
Carly Elisabeth (DH loves Elisabeth) - ok
Charley Elisabeth - cute - great as a sister to Rory
Chelsea Elisabeth - just nms - sorry
Elisabeth Charley - cute
Lainey Chase (DH likes Lainey on it's own) - i love lainey as well
Laila Charley/Layla Charley (which spelling?) - ok, not my fave from your list though
Lila Charley/Lilah Charley (again, which spelling?) - cute and i like both spellings
Madeleine Charley (DH picked this) - ok
Molly Chase - i love molly as well
Tegan Charley - is this long or short e...would make a cute sis to rory either way
Victoria Charley (DH picked this) - pretty
Good Luck!
Jaime
Rory Lee (our #1 pick)- I know Lee is your mn so I'm torn here. I love using a mn that has a special meaning, but I also think Rory would sound better w/ something else. I'd love it as Rory Elisabeth.
Bella Charley (DH likes Bella on it's own)- Bella is a great name, but very popular. Also Bella seems so pretty that Charley doesn't match well with it- I'd like Bella better matched with other names on your list like Bella Victoria or Bella Elisabeth.
Betsy Chase (DH likes Chase, and he goes by Chas)- this is cute, but I'd love Betsy as nn rather than a fn alone. You have Elisabeth on your list. It could be the perfect choioce for you- a great name with an adorable nn! You'd think this would be a win win for your dh since he likes both the whole name and the nn version! Also out of the other names listed that are paired w/ Chase as a mn, I'd like Elisabeth Chase the best.
Elisabeth Charley- I love Elisabeth. Beautiful name with tons of nn possibilities- including Betsy!
Lainey Chase (DH likes Lainey on it's own)- This one's nms- I like Lainey, but only as a nn
Laila Charley/Layla Charley (which spelling?)- I like this, but love Lila-see below
Lila Charley/Lilah Charley (again, which spelling?)- I love love love this one. Lila is such a sweet name and it isn't overly popular. I would love it even more paired with a different mn like Lila Elisabeth or Lila Madeleine.
Madeleine Charley (DH picked this)- It's okay. I do like Madeleine, it's just so darn popular. However, I would like this one as a fn to get to the nn of Lainey that your dh liked.
Molly Chase- Like Molly, not a fan of the mn choice
Tegan Charley- I like Teagan spelled this way
Victoria Charley (DH picked this)- I like Victoria a lot. I also think you could go with Rory as a nn for this one. What about Victoria Lee? You could use Rory as a nn- then you get both Rory and the use of your mn.
I didn't read all the posts from your prior thread so I don't know if this is repeating, but have you thought about Charlotte as a name to feminize Charles? If you use it as a fn, you could use either Charley or Carly as a nn. As a mn, it would make some of your name choices just stunning- for example: Lila Charlotte and Bella Charlotte.
One last thing: Try explaining to your dh that having a full name w/ a nn is a good thing- especially for a girl/woman. It'll give her choices of using a more formal name or a spunky nn depending on how she sees herself in life.
Good luck and keep us updated on what you decide

Well, I'm not a fan of alternative spellings. I do love a few on your list. I like Victoria, how about Victoria Lee? Also not a fan of using traditional boy names for girls, but if DH insists on Charley, it's better as a middle name. Elizabeth is also beautiful, Victoria Elizabeth? Kind of long, but just elegant and gorgeous.
Good luck!
Kimberly
Rory Lee -- I wouldn't use two non-gender specific names together. (I had a friend who wasn't sent sorority rush info in college for that reason -- they couldn't tell from her name that she was female.) And as I understand it, Leigh is the more common female version of Lee.
I think Charley is really cute, but as a nn, perhaps for Charlotte?
Love Betsy, don't hear it much. But to me it's a nn for Elizabeth.
Please, no more Madelines.
Other than that, I like your names!
Cathy
My DH also wanted a nickname, we compromised. He wanted Dani, but wouldn't use Danielle, Daniella or Danika as a full name. So we picked a completely different name.
Lila Charley/Lilah Charley (again, which spelling?) - Love Lila, why not Charlotte as a middle
Elisabeth Charley - would prefer Elisabeth Charlotte
Madeleine Charley (DH picked this) - Madeleine is very nice
Molly Chase - I like Molly as a stand alone name
Tegan Charley - Like Tegan
Laila Charley/Layla Charley (which spelling?) - I like Leila, but much prefer Lila
Victoria Charley (DH picked this) - Victoria is ok.
Rory Lee (our #1 pick) - personally, I would give a daughter a full name of Aurora with Rory as a nickname.
Carly Elisabeth - I prefer Carly as a nickname for Caroline
Bella Charley - Sorry, don't like it
Betsy Chase - don't like either
Charley Elisabeth - Only like Charley as a nickname for Charlotte
Lainey Chase - Again, I would go with Helena with Lainey as a nickname
Chelsea Elisabeth - I don't like Chelsea at all
I love the nicknames, but only as nicknames. I much prefer full names so a child will have more choices.
So a Katie when she get's older can be Kate or Kathryn when she grows up and isn't eternally a little girl named Katie.
Good luck!
