I think Channing is a fine name for a girl -- not my favorite, but fine.

Can't believe the feedback on channing. I think it is so beautiful and feminine. And perfect with Holland. I want to name my next baby Holland if it is a girl...it is a family name...but my husband won't go for it. Anyway....love both names.
Channing is too feminine for a boy for sure. With Holland as your dd - go for something clearly masculine for your ds.

I personally prefer it for a girl also. The only Channing I know IRL is a female teenager, but I know there is a young male actor w/ this name too. I think Holland and Channing make great sisters!

I think Channing is a great fit with Holland as sisters. I would use a very girly middle name with Channing. For Boys I would go with a name that isn't unisex and used for boys only. Good Luck!

I happen to really like the name Channing - not necessarily with the MN Isabella.

Honestly, I don't really care for it as a first name. If I heard or read the name, I wounldn't know if its bearer was male or female. However, the general sense I got from reading the messages here is that some think it's definately a girl and others think it's a boy. I think using it as a first name (for a child of either sex) would lead to people making assumptions about the child in a way they wouldn't if you used a more established unisex name like Jordan where people are more used to waiting to meet the person before they think male or female. On a practical note, your child won't be using his/her middle name that often on a daily basis, so a middle name that is designed to point to the sex won't have much effect except on the most official paperwork.

Personally for me, I don't care for the name Channing as a fn for a girl or boy. It sounds only like a last name to me, really.
