Okay, well John mother has come up with a new suggestion. Actually it was one I considered for like a milisecond. It's Jayla Marie. We got this by combining John and Kahla I personally think Jayla and Kahla are way too similar and would just be confusing but she insisted that I get other's opinions so what do you think?

The other suggestion was made by my mother, again I hate it! Danielle Lynn, Dani for short. I think it's an absolutely precious name, but I really don't want my daughter associated with Anna Nicole Smith's. Let me know what you think.

I pretty much agree with your assessments- Jayla and Kahla (with your pronunciation) are very similar. Danielle Lynn is okay, but nothing overly spectacular in my view. If you had a connection to either of those names it would be beautiful, but at least in my generation, both Danielle and Lynn are not unheard-of and I prefer names that are a little less popular. Even if they are not so popular right now, they have been in my lifetime and I'd be more likely to use something less popular.

What about Danielle Jayla? I think that would be a nice compromise.

How about Jayna as a combination of John and Kayla? I've heard it before and I prefer it to Jayla. You could spell Jayna some other way if you prefer. Jayna Danielle sounds great to me!

I just can't get into Jayla, basically for two reasons. First, it's too trendy-sounding for my taste. I'm not saying that it's a "bad" name, of course; lots of people love trendy names. They're just not my style. Second, I'm not into names that combine the parents' names, regardless. Again, this is something that many people are very much into, and that's fine; it's just a personal preference. If I WERE going to use a combo name, though, I would probably go with the previous poster's suggestion of Jayna. It's very pretty, not at all cutesy, and less trendy-sounding than Jayla.

Danielle is not a name that appeals to me, just based on sound. It's a fine name, it just doesn't do anything for me. If I were looking for a Dani name, I would go with Danica. If I wanted an -elle name, I would probably choose Noelle or Giselle.

I don't think there's anything wrong with have a daughter who's name rhymes with yours. To me it's a feeling of connection because your names are similar, but different. There are much worse things than have your names rhyme, such as Michael Jr. or Michael IV. Now that gets confusing.
