Nickname options - need help

I was wondering about the NN options for Samantha other than Sam or Sammi.
Samantha was DH's top choice, but I think I've convinced him otherwise. He brought it up again, but I don't like the obvious NN choices.

Also we were talking about wanting to honor my Mom who passed away, but her name was Concepcion, NN Connie. I like the name Carmen, do you think Connie could pass for a NN and still honor her? We both think it's possible, but iffy. :)

TIA!

I think Carmen nn Connie would work. I think PPL would ask where you got it but you can just say its a family name and they would get. A NN for Samantha you could *maybe* get away with Ana. I HTH good luck!

I think you could call Carmen by Connie if you wanted and explain it as a PP suggested.

I think that Connie and Carmen are very different names, so it doesn't make much sense to me to name her Carmen but call her Connie. Also- Carmen is a 2-syllable name, and so is Connie, I don't see how Connie can be a nickname for a name that it the same length, kwim? I also don't think that Carmen really "needs" a nn- it's a short enough name to go by the full name all the time. However, I do understand wanting to honor your mother, and I don't see anything wrong with calling your daughter Connie, I'd just pick another given name rather than Carmen. Why not give your daughter the name Concepcion and call her Connie, as your mother was? Or maybe another name that Connie sounds a likely nn for- Concetta
Consuela

Best of luck to you...
