No First Name!

Hi,

Dh and I are expecting our first (we don't know the sex). We have a name chosen if it's a boy but we need a girl's name. We can't think of any names that flow nicely with our two options for middle names (Diana or Juliana - both family names). Our last name begins with C and is long (8 letters). This is the very short list we have compiled:

Avery Diana
Lindsay Diana

As you can tell we are stumped. Suggestions and/or comments please.

Thanks

Julie

PS- Can't use either Juliana or Diana as a first name

I think with Diana and Juliana being 3 and 4-syllables you need a 1-syllable or very short 2-syllable first name -

Shae
Claire
Belle
Elle
Ivy
Iris
Brier
Chloe
Dawn
Eve
Faye
Faith
Grace
Hope
Jade
Jan
June
Kate
Keely
Lark
Leah
Blythe
Quinn
Brynn
Raine
Liesl
Maeve
Nell
Noelle
Paige
Pearl
Phoebe
Pier
Rose
Sade
Sage
Tainn
Wynne
Zoe
Ain
Bay
Bree
Layne
Rhea
Brooke
Kay
Erin
Eden
Opal
Sloane
Wren
Tori
Arly
Ivory
Carys
Taryn
Ani

I think a one-syllable first name would sound nice with either of those middle names.

Off the top of my head:

Faith Diana
Lynn Diana
Shea ('Shay') Julianna
Beth Diana
June Diana
May Julianna
Brynn Julianna
Gwin (or Gwen) Diana
Claire Julianna
Eve Diana
Gail Diana
Hope Diana
Kaye Julianna
Paige Diana

I also like Sydney Diana (to follow your Avery/Lindsay theme)

AJ, enjoying life with C.

The key to picking a first name to go with those middles is to choose a name that ends in a consonant sound:

Elizabeth Diana
Catherine Diana
Hope Julianna
Elise Julianna
Allison Diana
Rachel Julianna
Lauren Diana

For what it's worth, I prefer Diana to Julianna (Julianna is pretty common now and Diana is still very distinctive)

Good luck!

Well, I LOVE both those names: Lindsay and Avery. My DD's name is Lindsey Laura Anne....a mouthful I know. I "HAD" to use the mn's- family names. Not knowing I'd have another dd, wanted to honor both family members. SO- if you LOVE either of those names, they will work with mn...you never use the mn anyway.

Also, its funny, but I was set on using Avery for THIS dd- until my mom ruined it for me. Now I"m going with Kaitlyn, which would work nice with your mn's

One other option would be to change ending of mn to the "n" sound:
Lindsey Diane
Lindsey Juilianne
Avery Julianne

Otherwise, like some of the shorter names suggested already!
Good luck

I think both Diana and Julianna are great mn's. I prefer Lindsay over Avery, simply because I hear it less often and I prefer Avery for boys. I love Lindsay and find it a refreshing change from the names I am hearing all the time now.
With Diana or Julianna as a mn, I would avoid names ending in -a. Going from the style of Avery & Lindsay, here are some suggestions.

You could do a 1-syl. name since your last name is long. In this case, I would use Julianna as the mn as it is longer to balance out the short first name, with the exception of Sage as it already has the soft g/j sound.
Sage Diana
Claire Julianna
Brynn Julianna
Fern Julianna
Maeve Julianna
Brooke Julianna
Beth Julianna (could use Elizabeth or Bethany)
Faye Julianna (or as a nn for Felicity)
Gwen Julianna (or Gwyneth, Gwendolyn)
Mae Julianna

With the following longer names, you could use either Diana or Julianna. If I prefer one over the other I will write that, if I don't write a mn then I equally like the sounds.

Kiersten
Teagan
Margaret (nn Greta?)
Marley Diana
Phoebe
Kendall Julianna
Gretchen Diana
Rachel
Jaclyn Diana
Megan
Alison
Natalie Diana
Kelsey Diana
Chelsea Diana
Sydney Julianna

Anything you like??? Let me know and I will suggest more going from what you like/dislike.

Hi,

Thank you to all who replied. At least know we have ideas and are convinced to use Diana for the middle name. Thanks again.
