Hi -

Ok, I'm pregnant and due November 3rd and I am definately having a girl. My name is Aurora my husband's name is David....With that out of the way...

We have been trying to come up with a baby name for months. At first, we decided on Aniyah Jeanae, but since my little sister's name is really close to that we had to scrap it. Then we decided on Jaelynn or Alyssa, but found out that His cousin has a daughter named Jaylin Alyssa. That name is now scrapped.

So, I'm out of ideas. I would appreciate some suggestions......Here's why it's so hard....

I have three sisters - Sabrina Athena, Lesly Elvina, and Anijah something.
He has two sisters - Danielle and Dana.

My mom's name - Mary, his mom's name Deanna.

I don't want to name her after anyone in the family because I want her name to stand out. Because of that, I don't like names like Allison (even though it IS pretty!!!!) and Sarah (plus it's my aunt's name). Am I crazy for wanting the perfect name? Is that even possible?

I was thinking of giving up and naming her Airyn (pronounced Erin) with an unsual middle name to make up for the first name.

So....Does anyone have any suggestions? I like names that have Y in them.

LOL thanks for listening..

Have you come up with a name yet? I also really like "y" names and have been trying to think of names with y's in them. I'm not expecting yet, but I have a severe infatuation with baby names. Here's a couple suggestions for you... two that I like. Brooklyn and Kayleigh. (or any other spelling you can com up with- there's lots!)

Mycal -(pronounced Michael)

Alysha -(pronounced Alicia)

Tyana -(pronounced Tiana)

Best of luck,
Shawna

Choosing the "perfect" name can be so hard!

Tabytha Airyn would be a pretty choice. Good luck!

Maybe I'm the only one but I really like your suggestion of Airyn. Admittedly the spelling is uncommon but apparently you like it that way! :) Airyn (Erin) is a very pretty name.

Good luck! You've got some good suggestions so far.

Hi there,

As an aside, I love the name Aurora- I know you said you like 'y' names...but there are so many beautiful names which also come from Greek mythology, and if you gave your daughter one of them, plus an 'old standard' middle name, that could make a very nice, subtle reference to you two, her parents, that even she doesn't have to know about :P

Names from Greek mythology- Iris, goddess of the rainbow; Thalia, muse of comedy; Clio, muse of history; Calliope (nn Cally?) muse of epic; Eirene, goddess peace; Daphne, which means laurel and Ianthe, which means violet, they were nymphs; Cora, meaning maiden and referring to Persephone in the spring; Penelope, the faithful wife of Odysseus (and arguably the first 'strong' female character in literature); finally Selene, goddess of the moon, which I think particularly complements Aurora.

Forgive me for the tangent...here are my favourite y names. I don't really like modern respellings of old names with a Y, only those that are meant to be that way. Which is entirely subjective, I know :)

Annesley (gives her the option of going by Anne if she wants something more traditional)
Amaryllis (greek again: means 'to sparkle.' Also, I put my amaryllis out at the beginning of novemember so that it blooms for christmas...just a thought)
Audrey

Bryony/Briony
Blythe

Carys/Cerys (derived from welsh meaning love)
Cecily
Cynthia (nn Cyndy?)
Caryn/Karyn (yes, a misspelling, but this one I like :P)
Carly

Daisy

Evelyn
Eirlys (snowdrop in Welsh)

Gwenyth
Gwyneth (they have different pronouciations and derivations)

Jayne
Jessamyn (an early english form of Jasmine)

Kathryn/Cathryn
Kathlyn/Cathlyn

Lily
Lucy
Lydia

May
Maya
Maryam/Myriam
Molly

Poppy
Penny (nn for Penelope?!)

Robyn
Rosalyn (mediaeval rosalind)
Rhosyn (welsh rose)

Sibyl/Sibyll/Sibylla/etc
Sylvia/Sylvie

Wynne (blessed)

Do let us all know what you pick in the end!

Good luck,

Sisi

PS I think I'm hoping Carys something, or Selene something

What about Elowyn Rose? I love it but can't use it with our last name.
