Not-so-girly girl name

My husband and I are struggling with a little girl name. We are no where close to deciding, which I'm trying not to worry about because we don't even know the sex of our baby yet. :) We seem to be leaning toward shorter names...and perhaps ones that are less feminine. Some that I've suggested that my husband has actually liked are:

Sydney
Regan
Aidan (I know, it's a boy name, but...)

Of course, I don't like these anymore. :) I really like the name Lila , but my husband shot it down immediately.

My husband really likes the name Hope, which I like. But, our last name is Spring...and I don't like the feeling of Hope Spring (does anyone see that?? my husband thinks I'm crazy).

Knowing some of the names we've thought about, do any suggestions come to mind?

Hi,
We prefer "not so girly" names, as well. My two suggestions are two we were considering last time (we had a boy). They are Rory (unisex) and Daryn (boys name but several people said they liked it for a girl after I mentioned it).

Good Luck!
Danni (yet another "boy's name" used for a girl)

I also like short names! Too bad your husband shot down Lila, it is a such a pretty name.
You also seem to like unisex names.

Quinn - this is my number one name for you. Short and strong!
Ivy
Iris
Harper
Hadley
Eva
Dylan
Tatum
Sadie
Aubrey/Audrey
Evan
Jade
Jude

Thank you so much! I like a lot of your suggestions and am forwarding them to my husband to see what he thinks. Fingers crossed he doesn't shoot them all down. :) We have this deal that if there's a name one of doesn't like, it's out. Which is nice in a way. Hard, though, because I don't want to get too excited about a name until I know it's one he'd consider.

Thanks, again!

Hope springs eternal. Yeah - don't do it.

Seeing both Regan and Hope on your "nice but no" list, my first thought was Rowan. Not a girly-girl name and it has sound elements similar to Hope.

Your style is different from mine since I tend to prefer girly names, but I'll try to add some more ideas. And I agree with you... Hope Spring just doesn't work.

How about...

Liaden (pronounced lee-AID-en)
Avery
Camryn
Charis (CARE-iss or CAR-iss)
Claire (hmm, does that sound too much like "clear spring"?)
Helen
Dana
Mallory
Shannon (too many S's?)
Addison
Allison
Taryn
Morgan
Erin

Hope that gives you a few more ideas!

No one has added this name to the list of 'non girly' girls' names...

How about TEAGAN?

Teagan Spring.

I think it's a strong girls' name and a bit quirky, different, but not so different to be too unusual.

since your last name has only 1 syllable I think you will have more success with the flow and sound of the first name if it has 2 or more syllables...that's part of why Hope doesn't work, that, and the 'hope springs eternal' from a PP.

I'd avoid Aidan.
