Ladies-- if you haven't tried to investigate your dh's family tree, do it. I just got online and found my husband's ancestry (his mom had shown me some, so I knew a few of the names to look for) and I am just blown away. Now, my dh is of French Canadian descent so the names are really melodic and beautiful. The great news...I saw about 10 Elisabeths listed (s spelling!) dating back to around 1775 (yippee!). Also found:

Eva
Sophie
Elise
Virginie
Lise
Emelie
Charlotte
Madeleine
Seraphine
Anastasie
Felicite
Adeline
Aime
Victoire
Evangeline
Germaine
Angelique
Juliette
Corinne
Cecile
Isabelle
Celina
Helena
Lillian
Brigitte
Laure

I married the right guy! But everyone should LOOK...you never know what you might find!

wow, what a beautiful list! Now you've made me really curious. I might have to look into researching my own family tree. :)

When I saw the name of this post, I expected the names to be horrible! I guess I just didn't look closely enough at the balloon icon.

Anyway, I think you could stick any one of those names in for Elisabeth's middle name, and you'd be good to go. Elisabeth Juliette, Elisabeth Virginie, Elisabeth Lillian, Elisabeth Laure...oh, my heart just sings with the excitement of so many possibilities for you! That's a little hyperbolic, I know. But really, those are some great names.

I had an idea what sorts of names were on my family tree...had heard enough of them in stories/seen them in old family albums, etc but this was such a surprise. All I did was type a few of the names I knew into google and his whole geneolgy came up-- apparently, some distant cousins have done a ton of work and it's all there for the taking. I really suggest everyone do it...because if you can find a name you already "like" on a family tree, it just feels more complete.

Some good ones in there!! Can you refer us to some good websites to trace our ancestry? I know my family tree back 3 generations but would like to see beyond that and don't know much about my DH's ancestry (as far as names are concerned).
Now you've got me motivated!

Well, there's www.ancestry.com but you have to pay for that one. I have their most basic membership called World Family Tree which links you to already-existing trees so if you know a few names and dates it can fill in/extend your info. To get access to old census you have to upgrade your membership. But I foudn good info on the World Tree. Also, try www.familysearch.org. It's the site organized by the Mormons...don't know why they have so much info catalogued but they do. Not just for Mormons. They even have a GIANT geneology center in Salt Lake City. If you use a pc, you can download free software from them...to organize what you find...it's good. We recently switched to mac so I am still looking for new software (and none of it is free!) But those are good places to start!

last night, I just googled my husband's last name along with 2 other surnames I KNOW are in the family and a lot of info came up that was right.

Thank you! I did hear that about the records in Salt Lake City and had forgotten about it. Interesting...I'll let you know what I come up with.

Those are awesome names! I love Virginie and Helena!

Unfortunately for me my husband's family tree is a mess as far as names go. He's from Northern Italy and "lyrical" doesn't exactly describe the names. Take a look (sorry if I'm offending anyone who likes these names...but they are not music to my ears!).

Vanda
Dina
Evi
Severina
Orietta
Elemanna
Noemi
Fausta
Fernanda
Gianna
Verna
