I like names with nn;s.

DH doesnt. He would prefer that our twins have names that dont have nn's associated with them, so he had me come on and ask.

Any suggestions for names that dont have nn's? Please dont say you dont have to give them a nn, DH and I dont want to ho around correcting ppl like my parents did. My Name is Kristin, simply Kristin no nn. My parents had to keep nn's away lol.

So basically we are looking for names that dont have nn's at all.

Boy and girl names needed! TIA sooo much.

Well, I'll give it a shot lol. (Some of these may sometimes have nicknames, but if I know people who use them without any nn's and they're not obvious ones that everyone will expect to be shortened - ie. William to Bill or Will, Daniel to Dan or Danny, etc. - then I'll include them too).

Richael

Rose

Ivy

Ariane

Ashlyn

Aislin(n) (this spelling would also avoid anyone who might try to shorten it to "Ash")

OK, my favorite no-nickname names (though I will say again, you don't need to stand for them! My DH is Robert and has never been Bob or Bobby ever!)

Girls:

Brita (my gr-ma says BREE-tah)

Zoe/Chloe

Zora/Cora/Dora

Hannah or Hanna (HAH-nah)

Tova

Jane (could be Janie - but is that a nn since it is actually longer??)

Mary

Emme

Laura

Sarah

Noa (I know a girl with this name...)

Phoebe

Lydia

Hope

Boys:

Carl

Paul

Marc

Ross

Isaiah

Aaron

Silas

Simon

And my boys are Caleb and Zion and I can't think of a single nn for those names...

Good luck!!

Well, I understand where he is coming from. I think I was leaning the same way when I named my boys...I just have to tell you that if you choose a name that has no nn, someone will still most likely make one up. :) Might even be you...You know how hard it is to talk to a sweet little baby without making up stupid names, right? Well, sometimes they stick! LOL...I named my boys Shaun, Chase, and Bryce...We now have a Shauney(sounds like Johnny), and Chasey-Pooh, and a Brycey-Baby...Don't know how they came about, but they stuck! I think their names are nice for grown-ups, which is why I chose them, but for little kids...I don't know! Good luck! I just wanted to tell you that if there is a name you like that has a possible nn, don't rule it out! I honestly never imagined my kids with nn's! :)

Jill~My full name is Jilian, but I shortened to Jill b/c it's preferable to Jilly~I don't know where people get this stuff!! :)

#4 Edd was 9/22 :)

I'm not fond of nn, either, but as hard as I tried to find no-nn names for my children, I have noticed that people still "clip" their names. In the end, it's really not a big deal b/c most people will call your child by the name they hear you use. It's usually family that does the shortening!

These don't lend themselves as readily to nn- Leah, Bliss, Halle, Phoebe, Norah, Naomi, Laurel, Thea, Sadie, Clare, Scarlett, Rita, Chloe, Faith, Paige, Bell, Ruth, Gretchen, Erin, Gemma, Margo/Margaux, Savannah, Bridget, Carmen, Vivian, Ivy, Noelle, Zoe, Mia, Daphne, Amity, Erika, Monica, Eden, Adaire, Ayla, Adrienne, Brook, Ellery, Natalie, Quinn, Holly, Molly, Joy, Rhiannon, Lily

boys- Reed, Brice, Chad, Rhett, Erik, Scott, Adair, Alec, Jared, Liam, Tanner, Stefan, Lars, Ty, Dane, Nyle, Drake, Blake, Blaine, Ethan, Luke, Isaiah, Ramsey, Clark, Seth, Brett, Brooks, Quinn, Zane, Neil, Henry, George, Bryant, Barrett, Isaac

Best wishes, Ginger

Here are a couple from my list:

Girls: Ava, Amy, Alice, Charlotte, Clara, Daphne, Elin, Emma, Kate, Lucy, Molly, Tessa.

My name is Michelle and I've never been called anything but.

Some of these name are the NN that I would use as the name (not as a nn)

Boys: Adam, Aiden, Ben, Elliott, Jack, Liam, Oliver, Owen, Sam.
