I have a few questions about this name. I like it because it has the 'lin' from my g-mas name (elin) But it has the O wich i like because my maiden name starts with an O. (And it means "Of the ancestors") Im just wondering how its pronounced, and Im also wondering if its more of a girls name or a boys name? Where I found the name it said it is used for both male and female.
Im not sure about it as a fn name but maybe possibly as a mn. Im also wondering if its really a scandinavian

IDK what do you all think?

Great name, good luck

I think the spelling Olin looks all girl! If using the name for a boy I'd go ahead with Olan instead because that looks male, to me anyway.
About the name origin: according to the name book I have, which I call my 'bible' when it comes to names, says Olin is a distortion of Olaf, and Olaf comes from Old Norse meaning 'ancestral relic'. So you were right!
