Hi All, I am pregnant with our 2nd and last (probably) child. Another girl! We are thrilled. Please give me your advice on which name below you like or totally hate.

I think Addison Michael is really petty together , i also like resse and summer. I hate Edan and Edan sounds like an old ladies name lol.

I am expecting a boy in June our top names are: Angelo, Nickolas(after the father), or Chrisopher. The middle name is David, what is your opinion?

i actually don't mind michael as a mn for a girl...ESPECIALLY if it has significance for you. i know no less than TWO women with michael as a fn. (one went by "michael" exclusively, and the other went by "mickey" until a few years ago when she decided it was too immature...i think she was 14 or so at the time. she's 19 now. the other woman is my mother's age, 54.) they were both also the only girls in their respective sibsets. i'm not a huge fan of it as a fn, but as a mn i have no problem with it.

if you do use michael tho, i second the pp about using a more feminine fn. eden is beautiful!

If your friend is named Michal, it isn't Michael.

Michal is a Hebrew girlname meaning brook.

Michael is a Hebrew boy name meaning who is like God.

It is pronounced Michael, but it's spelled Michal.

Congrats on your pregnancy!

Other posters have covered pretty much all the bases, but how about Tess Michael? It has a similar feel to your front runner Reece, but is utterly feminine.

Plus I think Tess & Mia sound adorable together. They both have a spunky, modern, informal feel.

Also, I think Michael as a middle name is a nice idea because of the family connection and doesn't need to be altered to make it more feminine.

Good luck!

None of your fns are my style, though I really love Mia...

I also just did some quick research to make sure that I was right in this...
1 Samuel 18:20 says,
"Now Michal, Saul's daughter, loved David..."
So you would be perfectly justified in having your daughter have the mn Michal (I would drop the "e" to make it feminine). The name has obviously long been a girl name. So forget the nay-sayers and name her whatever you like! :)

Oh and there seems to be some debate on how it's pronounced and I've heard it both ways. I have a friend named Abigail Michal pronounced Michael.

I agree with the PP that said that the mn spot is a perfect place for a family name that just doesn't work as a first name.
