Hi everyone,
I'm not pregnant or TTC, but was thinking of names recently, and wanted to get some opinions on these please. Thanks!
BOYS
I tend to like names that are not uncommon, like Matthew (Matt), William (Will/Liam) and Christopher (Kit/Chris) and I like nn potential (usually). Sometimes I find I like just the nn but not the full name. Any thoughts on giving a "nn name"? Besides the above three names, what do you think of:
Jasper (Jaz)
Nate (a "nn name" to me)
Charlie (also a "nn name")
Conner/Connor
Cooper (Coop)
Corbin
Finlay
Logan
Quinn
GIRLS
Same criteria as for boys' names (in general) :o)
Thought on these?
Elizabeth (Libby)
Alexis (Lexi)
Erin
Jess (just Jess)
Keira/Kera/Keera/Kiera (spelling? trying for prn like "YEAR"-ra with a K instead of Y)
Madalyn
Mallory (Lori)
Riley
Sarah
Danielle (Dani)
Abigail (Abby)
Fallon
Gemma
Rachael/Rachel
Saffron
Thanks very much for your opinions! :o)

Hi there. Nice lists! Here are my thoughts:
BOYS
Matthew (Matt)-I love Matthew. This is my ds' name, but he's just Matthew. I don't mind Matt though; it's cute on the right kid.
William (Will/Liam)-This is another ds, LOL. My William goes by Billy almost exclusivly, but I really love Liam as well. Will is okay, but not my favorite.
Christopher (Kit/Chris) -Christopher & Chris are perfectly nice, but I *love* Kit! That's too adorable. Christopher nn Kit is fabulous.
Jasper (Jaz)-I really like Jasper, but prefer Jass as a nn. Perhaps even Jesse.
Nate (a "nn name" to me)-Hm, this wouldn't be awful on its own. I like Nathan though.
Charlie (also a "nn name")-I definitly think that Charlie is fine on its own. This is on my list too as just Charlie.
Conner/Connor-Conor.
Cooper (Coop)-Kind of cute, but I just can't get into it for some reason.
Corbin-I'm starting to like this one lately. It's dashing. I like Corey too maybe as a nn for this.
Finlay-I love Finlay, although beware that for whatever reason people are using this for girls lately.
Logan-That's fine, but sort of ho-hum.
Quinn-This isn't bad. I prefer Finn.
GIRLS
Elizabeth (Libby)-I love Elizabeth. Libby is kind of cute, but I really like Bess & Zizi as nns. Bette is also nice.
Alexis (Lexi)-Nooo...I don't like Alexis much. It's so dreadfully trendy & popular in my area, & I just don't think it's that pretty. Lexi isn't awful; Alexandra or Alexandria nn Lexi would be fine.
Erin-That's not awful, but not my favorite. I love Aaron for a boy.
Jess (just Jess)-I think that maybe just Jess could work for a boy, but it's maybe too masculine for a girl full name. What about Jessamy nn Jess?
Keira/Kera/Keera/Kiera (spelling? trying for prn like "YEAR"-ra with a K instead of Y)-I don't know, but I really prefer Kira. You could definilty get the 'year' sound w/that.
Madalyn-Madelyn, but that's nice. I like the nn Maisie, or maybe even Lynnie.
Mallory (Lori)-I like Mallory. I've never thought of Lori as a nn for it; not bad. Mally is also cute.
Riley-No.
Sarah-That's a nice classic. It has great nn potential too if you're interested: Sally, Sadie, Sassy.
Danielle (Dani)-That's nms, but it's not bad.
Abigail (Abby)-Nice.
Fallon-Hm, that's nms.
Gemma-Aw, lovely!
Rachael/Rachel-NMS. I have yet to meet a nice one.
Saffron -Kind of neat.
Hope this helps!
I think some 'nn' names such as Greg, Drew, Jack and I think the ones you listed (Chris, Will, Liam and Matt) cann all stand on their own.
my thoughts on these names-
Jasper (Jaz)- this is nms and I think Jaz is a tad bit 'girly'
Nate (a "nn name" to me)- I like Nate, but I prefer Nathan personally
Charlie (also a "nn name")- this is really cute, I think it can stand on its own and I prefer it to Charles
Conner/Connor- I love this name; its on my list
Cooper (Coop)- ditto of Connor
Corbin- I like this too; but there is something about it that makes me not want to use it
Finlay- ditto of Connor (I like it spelled Finley though personally; I love the nn Finn)
Logan- another one thats on my list, but it's getting kind of popular :(
Quinn- this is nms, I know its unisex but I only know girls with this name. for boys I prefer Quinton w/ the nn Quinn
Elizabeth (Libby)- pretty and classic
Alexis (Lexi)- I like Alexis, I think Lexi is ok
Erin- very nice name
Jess (just Jess)- Jess is nms, and I think Jessica is kind of 80's sounding
Keira/Kera/Keera/Kiera- I like it spelt Keira; I think it's pretty but kind of trendy lately
Madalyn- another pretty name
Mallory (Lori)- this is on my list, I like it. What about Molly? It's kind of similar if you like shorter names.
Riley- this is ok, but not as nice as the other names on your list
Sarah- it's alright
Danielle (Dani)- cute, I've always liked this name
Abigail (Abby)- very nice, but VERY popular.. I prefer it for a mn
Fallon- same as Riley
Gemma- I think this is cute
Rachael/Rachel- pretty; I prefer it spelt Rachel
Saffron- I don't like this at all, sorry. What about Jasmine or Sage I think those are alot nicer sounding, it just doesnt sound pretty to me, it just sounds like someone who is trying to be creative and use a random spice out of their closet as a name (although I know a celebrity named there baby this)

Hi there,
Thank you very much for your input! :o)
I love that your ds are Matthew and William! Those were the sib names I was thinking would go well together! :o) btw, I never thought of Billy as a nn - it's cute!
Other things I got from your feedback - I also love Kit as a nn for Christopher as am not too fond of Chris, but never knew how others felt. Glad to know at least someone likes it too :o)
I hadn't thought of Jass or Jesse as nn for Jasper. I think they work well, tho.
I'm not sure about Nathan, but it may grow on me.
Corbin nn Corey is cute. Hadn't even thought about a nn for this! :o)
*******
Zizi is quite cute a nn for Elizabeth. Hadn't thought of it.
I like the nn Lexi and was trying to find a full name. I have a cousin named Alexandra (nn Alex) so can't use that.
Just out of interest, where I stay (in South Africa) Aaron is prn diff from Erin. We tend to say it as "Ar-in" like Caryn. Think it's interesting how different prn are!
You're right, Jess is probably a bit masculine. I probably would never use it tho, as I have another cousin - Jessica, who goes by Jessie. Jessamy is cute tho.
I quite like Kira, but I thought people would prn it "Ky-ra" like eye?
I like the nn Sadie for Sarah - thanks for the suggestion! :o)
Thanks again for your help!
Elaine

Hi there,
Thank you very much for your reply and input! :o)
I think that you're right about Jaz being a bit girly. The pp suggested Jass or Jesse which are both quite nice ideas.
I think that Nathan is growing on me, as is Nathaniel.
With Corbin I also thought there was a reason I probably won't use it. I think it may be the "bin" part for me. :o)
Quinten nn Quinn is nice!
***********
I have a cousin named Jessica (nn Jessie) so couldn't use Jessica anyway. I have been thinking of alternatives like Jessamy (pp suggestion) and Jessamyn
I like Molly, but can't use it. It was my gran's name (Molly Margaret) and my cousin has named her little girl Micaela Molly (prn Mik-KY-la). It is a pity, but I have been thinking about names that mean the same as Molly or Margaret, like Maire, Miren, Mia (forms of Mary/Molly) and Pearl, Greta and Meggie as mn.
I'm not sure I like spice/flower names like Jasmine and Sage. Saffron is one I heard on a little girl a while ago and thought it was cute. It's not one of my favourites though. I think nn Saffy is cute :o)
Thanks again for your input!
