Opinions other than my own

Hello! I am new here and about to be married. We aren't trying to get prego yet but I have always been obsessive about baby names since I was a little girl. So I was just wondering what opinions I might get on here as opposed to the ones I get from the people I know and which are usually not flattering. LOL. So feel free to be honest and suggest or comment on whatever. Don't worry I can take it. LOL.

Boys (boys names are much easier for me)

Atticus James (my absolute favorite)

Lazarus Albert

Xerxes Christopher

Ezekiel Adam

Arthur Gregory

Shannon Patrick

I also like Priam, Wes,

Congrats on the upcoming marriage and welcome to the board! We're not TTC yet either, but names are a fun way to think about babies without having to stress too much about planning! Here are my thoughts:

Boys (boys names are much easier for me)- I'm so jealous b/c boys are SO hard for my DH and I!

Atticus James (my absolute favorite)- I love it, probably my favorite on your main list.

Lazarus Albert- I don't dislike it, but I don't think I like it much either. I think the nn Laz would be really cool, though! Albert has never been a favorite of mine, but if it has family/ sentimental value I like it.

Xerxes Christopher- There is something I really like about the name Xerxes, although he was a pretty cruel ruler of the Persian empire. You'd likely get pronunciation issues (someone in my Sunday school class once mangled it reading Esther, and I was so embarrassed for them!)

Ezekiel Adam- I really like both names- it's very Biblical though (which maybe what you are going for). Maybe Ezekiel Albert ot Ezekiel Arthur to make it less Biblical?

Arthur Gregory- Really handsome names!

Shannon Patrick- I'd like it a lot reversed, Patrick Shannon. I like Shannon for a boy (Leslie, too) but I feel it's leaned too far girl for too long.

I also like Priam, Wes, Phineas, Jameson, Elias, & Holden- I love Wesley/ Westley, nn Wes/ West, Phineas, Jameson, and Elias. Holden is becoming too trendy IMO and I've never seen Priam before. I don't quite like how it sounds for some reason.

Girls

Leto- as in Jared?

Verity Elizabeth- LOVE IT!!! Verity is my favorite virtue name, and it's so pretty!

Sophia or Sophelia (nn Sophie)- Sophia is too common nowadays for my tastes, and Sophelia seems too contrived IMO.

AnnaNova- I don't like 2 names smashed together, but Anna Nova (used as a double name) is not bad.

Lily- Pretty, but common.

Wren- Interesting! I think I like it...

Magdelene Juno- I'd like Magdalena June more!

middlename possibilities... Claudia, Tia, Lavinia, Bianca, Malaia- why not for first names? I love Claudia and Bianca!

Fun lists!!!

Boys (boys names are much easier for me)

Atticus James: I'm starting to see Atticus on a lot of lists, which makes me a bit less excited about it.

Lazarus Albert: I know this might catch some flack, but I LOVE Lazarus. It's brilliant.

Xerxes Christopher: Problem being, it's Sexrex if you reverse it...

Ezekiel Adam: Fun!

Arthur Gregory: Arthur could be fun to see come into play.

Shannon Patrick: I love Shannon on a boy. Noone uses it on anyone anymore, so I think it could be reclaimed by the boys.

I also like Priam (love it!), Wes (not a big fave--love Wade, though), Phineas (my friends have a Finneas and I think it's sweet), Jameson (it's very handsome, but you've seen some girls call dibs on it of late--but I wouldn't let that stop me), Elias (handsome), & Holden (trendy and I don't like Salinger.)

Girls

Leto: This doesn't really work for me...makes me think of Jared Leto rather than Greek goddess.

Verity Elizabeth: Absolutely stunning!

Sophia or Sophelia: Sophia is far more common than many of your other choices and Sophelia feels contrived, so I'd scratch this unless you're deeply in love with Sophie.

AnnaNova: Just "eh" for me.

Lily: P'raps a bit too common.

Wren: Love it!

Magdelene Juno: Love Juno, could see it getting a little more play in the wake of the movie. Magdeline...not so much.

Boys

Atticus James -- Love, love love. Absolutely adore this one. I am also seeing Atticus pop up on a lot more lists, but I'm not too worried. It's definitely not the shocker it used to be, but it's still rare and unique.

Lazarus Albert -- I'm not wild about either of these. I see the appeal of Lazarus for a devout Christian (and I would definitely assume that someone who named their child Lazarus was a devout christian), but I'm not wild about the name itself. Albert hasn't quite broken out of the nerd category for me. I definitely think it has the potential to do so, but I'm not QUITE in love with it yet. I do really like it in the mn spot though. And I will say that this combination has a nice flow.

Xerxes Christopher -- hmm. I've never been a huge fan of the Xerxes of history. Granted, I'm far from an expert, so maybe he has some great qualities I'm unfamiliar with. I will admit that it has a cool sound. Christopher is a lovely classic, and I like the pairing of something very unusual with something more familiar.

Ezekiel Adam -- Love this. I'm a big fan of Ezekial, especially with Zeke as a nn possibility. And unlike Lazarus, I don't think this name would make me assume the parents are hard-core Christians. (That's not a bad thing, btw. I think it's great when Christians want to honor their religion. I'm just saying pointing out the associations I have with these names, having grown up in a very fundamentalist community.) I love Adam. And again, I love the pairing of the unique name and the familiar name.

Arthur Gregory -- I'd flip this, personally. I love both Gregory and Arthur, but I like Gregory Arthur better. I love Rory or Gray as a nn for Gregory. Not a fan of the nns for Arthur (Art? Artie? Actually, Ari is nice. I wouldn't mind that.)

Shannon Patrick -- This is another case where I'd flip it, mainly because Shannon has really gone ot the girls. I still like it for boys, but I think most people will assume he's a girl when they hear it. Also, I just adore Patrick.

Priam -- this one's okay. I'm not in love with it.

Wes -- I love Wesley nn Wes. Wes on its own seems very unfinished.

Phineas -- love it

Jameson -- this doesn't seem to mesh with your naming style. I love it (it's on our shortlist) but it doesn't look like your style. Is your fiance named James? That was my guess to explain this diversion from your normal style. Just curious.

Elias -- love it

Holden -- love it. BUT I'm seeing this more and more and it is definitely growing steadily in popularity. It may not be as unique as you want it to be, especially since you aren't TTC for awhile.

Girls

Leto -- This makes me think of Jared Leto. I really like Leta, but I'm not wild about Leto.

Verity Elizabeth -- This is lovely. I'm normally not a fan of virtue names, but I like Verity. It doesn't feel as cliched as Hope or Faith, etc. Elizabeth is a lovely classic.

Sophia or Sophelia (nn Sophie)-- Sophia is super popular. SUPER popular. I've never heard of Sophelia. It looks to me like your grandmothers where named Sophia and Ophelia and you wanted to honor them both so you made up a name that combined the two. Not a fan, sorry. However, I love Ophelia.

AnnaNova -- I'm not a fan of this either. First of all, it looks like a type (like you forgot a space). I'd prefer something like Annora instead.

Lily -- lovely but SO SO popular. Painfully popular.

Wren -- this is great! Pretty and unusual.

Magdelene Juno -- LOVE Magdalene. I think it's very pretty. I'm not wild about Juno. I love June, but Juno just isn't a favorite. It's not bad though. My real issue with it, is that it feels very hollywood to me right now given the enormous popularity of the character/movie by the same name. (I loved the movie and have seen it twice already.) Given a few years distance though, that vibe may not be an issue.

Magdelene
Claudia
Bianca (i really like this and Claudia for first names too)

I love your boys list! For a boy, my number one choice was Apolodoro with nn Apolo but the more I thought about I figured I cant really do that to my poor baby. I think a lot of your names are like that too, they sound great in theory but it might be a little mean to actually give some of those names to a baby.

Atticus James (my absolute favorite)-I have seen this a lot lately, so I hope it doesnt become popular because its great, its very interesting without being too crazy

Lazarus Albert-nms, I dont like this one at all

Xerxes Christopher-I love this, this is my favorite from your boys list!

Ezekiel Adam-I love this one too, its a little out there but it sounds great nonetheless

Arthur Gregory-I dont like this one at all and it feels a little out of place with the rest of your list.

Shannon Patrick-nms, I dont care for Shannon as a boys name

I also like Priam, Wes,

Atticus James (my absolute favorite) - modern, strong - I like it

Lazarus Albert - nms

Xerxes Christopher - a little much - what about Ulysses Christopher?

Ezekiel Adam - nice, I love the nn Zeke

Arthur Gregory - charming

Shannon Patrick - hmm...I think you could do something more current like Declan Patrick, Lachlan Patrick, Dermott Patrick, Callum Patrick

I also like Priam (nms, kind of too strange), Wes (too much of a nn - what about Weston or Wesley), Phineas (not my favorite Finn name, maybe Griffin)

Jameson, Elias, & Holden - love all three

Girls:

Leto - dislike, all I can think of Jared Leto

Verity Elizabeth - great combo, love it

Sophia or Sophelia (nn Sophie) - Sophia is too common and Sophelia seems like too much

AnnaNova - dislike the spelling, Anna Nova is fine

Lily - too common - what about Iris, Ivy, or Lyric

Wren - cute

Magdelene Juno - Matilda Juno has more charm in my opinion

middlename possibilities... Claudia, Tia, Lavinia, Bianca, Malaia - all would be ok

Good luck,
Brooke
