Opinions/Help on Girl Name
| Fri, 10-20-2006 - 4:41pm |
We already have one son, Jack. So I just want some opinions/help. We live in Mid-west and around here we have a lot of "cutesy" girl names. My boy names are Gus & Oliver. So...the girl name really needs to flow with the boy names, just in case we are having twins are more down the road. I'm going for classy, sophisticated here...so suggestions please!
Here we go...
Claire
Claudia - is this to strong for a baby?
Pheobe - I'm really starting to like this one
Sophia/ie (this isn't popular here)
Lucy (love it, but I think it's a bit cutesy)
Georgia - afriad people will call her "Georgie"
Harper - love it, but is it too masculine?

Claudia-- Pretty name, but I can't get past the meaning of 'lame'.
Pheobe-- Love it, but prefer Phoebe.
Sophia/ie-- Beautiful, classy name.
Lucy-- never liked this name.
Georgia-- too much like the state, like Georgina, however.
Harper-- imo it sounds feminine, but have heard it on boys. Like this after Sophia and Phoebe.

I like Sophia. I would've loved to have had that name for our little girl but we know of a couple who also named their newborn Sophia.
But, I also really like Georgia. That is on our short list of girl names also.
Harper is my pick...although, I've been hearing a lot of people asking about it, but not many using it.
Claire and Sophia are my second two choices.
Personally I love the names Pheobe and Sophia! They have a cute quality, but arent qualified as "cutesy". I think the name will grow with the baby. As an adult they can still be respected and taken professionally. But as a child, it can still be adorable!
Claire is a great choice. Good for a child and an adult.
Claudia - sounds like an ugly girl.
Pheobe - My husband's favorite choice. Can't get "Friends" out of my head.
Sophia/ie - If it goes with your last name, but I don't know how they'll play as adults.
Lucy - Yes, cutsey.
Georgia - - They'll call her Georgie. It's a heavy name, like Claudia.
Harper - "Harpy" yikes.
Cheers
Jen
