Sunday evening around 7:00 pm our Boxer Makenzie passed away.
I took her to the vet on Friday for her shots and her one ear was swollen. They took her in back to drain her ear and give her the shots and we went back to the waiting room. A little later they brought Makenzie out to us. She told me that Makenzie was very upset when she was getting her ear drained and her heart stopped and she turned blue and a minute later she came back. A couple months back we were walking over to my parents and Makenzie was running ahead of us and she fell over and the same thing had happened. A minute later she had come back and she was fine.
Yesterday she was sitting in our front living room and she walked into the other living room where Jadeyn and I were playing cards on the floor. She sat next to me and started panting very heavy. I asked her what was wrong and started petting her and she fell over. I called for Mark to come in to help because I thought it was just one of her episodes and she would lose her bladder and come out of it. Her heart stopped and she stopped breathing (like before) and I was shaking her trying to get her back. Her heart started beating again very fast and then it stopped. She was gone.
It is just hard for me because my husband and I got Makenzie a couple months before we were married. She was my first baby. When Jadeyn came along it was different but Makenzie and I have always been close.
Jadeyn took it very well. I don't think she understands totally. She got her doctor kit out last night and was playing doctor to Makenzie after she died and read her a book. She said it would be okay and we would just get another dog.
Mark was able to dig a hole behind the shed and we buried her last night. She wasn't even 7 years old yet. She would have been 7 years old on May 12th.
So, my eyes are swollen and I look like crap. The house is just very quiet. I am so used to hearing Makenzie. She followed me everywhere. I really hope that God allows dogs in heaven. I hope to see her there one day.

maybe she had an unknown tumor. (my grandma was falling/losing her balance, they found a small tumor growing deep in her brain(of course in the brain, isnt much room for small..they couldve tried to remove it, was 70% chance unsuccessful, she was 84, she said nope, i'm ready to go home.. and they said 3 months, she functioned 6 months, 3 months we all completely took care of her) so glad your babyMakenzie was with you, at home, when she said goodbye to you. of course our pets are in heaven, they're our lil angels!
sounds like your daughter did a lovely eulogy.

Oh, sweetie, that is so, so sad. It hurts to much to lose a puppy, because they're just good, through and through, and they love you no matter what. Of course God allows dogs in Heaven...at least I certainly hope so.
God bless you and your family. And God bless your little girl, who wants to make everything better for you by getting you another doggy. I hope that you'll all have happier days in the future.
