Our First! Thinking of names

Hi everyone! I'm Elise (Elisabeth). We've recently found out we're pregnant! It was a surprise but a welcome one and we're just so excited. It's pretty early but we've started thinking about names and I'd love opinions.

For girls (I had a dream the baby would be a girl):

Charlotte
Claudia
Alexandra
Laura
Evelyn (DH doesn't love it though but I do)
Katherine (Kate)
Cora
Louisa
Gemma (DH likes more than I do)
Olivia

For Boys:

Alexander
Christopher
James
Cameron (I've been hearing this for girls a lot lately?)
William (Liam)
Damian (DH likes it more than I do)
John (Jack) (would he be John VII if six John's came before my DH but neither DH or his brother are called John?)

Any suggestions? It's pretty early in the pregnancy to be thinking about names but we're so excited! DH wants to call him/her by a name rather than "it". We weren't going to find out the gender. We've had an ultrasound but said we didn't want to know - but we're thinking we would like to know now so we know what to buy. Our last name is two syllables starting with S if it matters.

Thanks!!

Congratulations Elise! So fun thinking of names for the first.

I like all of your girls names.

Olivia is the most popular, if you want to avoid that. If you or your partner don't agree on a name I'd eliminate those, so Evelyn, and Gemma go away.

I'd also eliminate Alexandra & Katherine, both very nice names, but a little too popular for my tastes.

Left with a very nice list:

Charlotte
Claudia
Cora
Louisa
Laura

My favorites are Cora, Louisa and Claudia. I'd probably pick Louisa if I had to pick one.

Are you going to use a nickname? that might narrow down the options more also.

For Boys:

Again, eliminate Damian if you both don't like it.

Cameron, is nice, but I agree, hearing it more for girls, would make me think twice.

William (Liam) - My favorite from your list, love that it has two nicknames I love, Liam is my favorite with Will 2nd.
John (Jack) - Close second to William (Liam). I love John as a full name with nickname Jack. You can't go wrong with either.

These are also nice names, but I like the others better:
James
Alexander
Christopher

I don't really think you need suggestions, you have a great list, but here are a few:

Boys: Graham, Adam, Henry, Sebastian, Elliott, Julian, Theodore, Harrison, Grant, Matthias, Oliver, Patrick, Owen, Adrian

Girls: Eleanor/Eleanora, Helena, Amelia, Matilda, Adelaide, Audrey, Genevieve, Georgia, Josephine, Stella, Vivienne

Good luck! So nice to hear someone newly pregnant so excited!

We used nicknames when pregnant, and didn't decide on a final name until we saw our babies.

Hi Elise, congrats! I'm PG with my first, also. We have similar taste in names, I love almost every name on your list. We have pretty much narrowed down ours to Elizabeth for a girl

Wow what great suggestions! There are so many names I love I'm finding it hard to pick a favorite!

I showed DH the suggestions here and I mentioned I really like Adrian and he does, too. He also loves Adrianna for a girl (although he's a fan of Adrianna Lima). I also liked Nora, Audrey, and Owen. We still have a while to decide, which is good.

I'm with your husband I guess - I like Gemma and Damian, although I like the spelling Jemma better - I think too many people are unfamiliar with that name and might try to pronounce it with the hard G.

Christopher is OK, next best on the boys list - I'm just not into the classic/traditional names
