| Wed, 08-01-2007 - 6:53pm |
Hi, my dh & I have come up with a short list of names that we like. I just wanted to know everybody's opinion. Any suggestions and ideas are welcome as well. Our last name is one syllable and begins with R. Thank you!
Boys:
Connor
Sean
Landon
Owen - a little unsure on this one
Xavier - unsure about this one too
Girls:
Alexa (nn Lexi)
Erica
Madelyn
Olivia - unsure about this one

Pages
Connor - I like this name a lot. I know several Connors of various ages, though, so I might not use it just because I hear it so often.
Sean - Nice, traditional
Landon - I'm so tired of this one already. The surnames-as-first-names trend is super-popular where I live, and all the Landons, Jacksons, Brennans, and so on just run together now (to me).
Owen - a little unsure on this one - Very nice
Xavier - unsure about this one too - I LOVE it if pronounced ZAY-vee-er; I strongly dislike it when pronounced eks-ZAY-vee-er.
Alexa (nn Lexi) - I've never really warmed up to this name or the nickname Lexi, but it's fine.
Erica - Seems dated to me, but it's a fine name
Madelyn - I'm pretty much Madeleine'd out, regardless of the spelling.
Olivia - unsure about this one - I love this name, despite its popularity; but it is really popular right now.
Good luck,
Tracy
Connor - nice; the R at the end might run into the R at the beginning; ex:

<Boys:
Connor - i like this name and although everyone says that it is really popular but I don't see it in real life
Sean - i like this name, but i am partial because it is dh's name
Landon - i like this name
Owen - ok
Xavier - nmsaa, sorry
Girls:
Alexa (nn Lexi) - i like this name
Erica - seems dated to me
Madelyn - pretty
Olivia - like this name too
Good Luck and HTH

Before you even start Connor and Xavier are OUT if your last name starts with an R - that's a bad combo of things - when the first name ends with the same letter the last name starts with - it just all runs together like one sound
As far as the others
Sean - don't like that spelling first of all, do like the Shawn spelling, but either way a 1-syllable first name is not a good idea with a 1-syllable last name
Landon - LOVE THIS ONE
Owen - a little unsure on this one - yeah, I'm not crazy for that either
Girls:
Alexa (nn Lexi) - all the Alex girls names are way overdone, everywhere
Erica - I like Erica a lot, you don't hear it much, which is nice
Madelyn - add her to the millions of Maddie's whose real names are Madelyn, Madeline and Madison
Olivia - unsure about this one- OK, not great
so, my picks for you are Landon for the boy, Erica for the girl
good luck
Connor and Olivia are my favs. I like having a longer first name with a short last name. Flows better to me. JMO.

Connor & Owen are my favorites from your list, with Sean third. Landon is ok.
Xavier - like this the least. A little too trendy for me.
Alexa (nn Lexi) - I don't like it sorry.
Erica - Nice but a little boring.
Madelyn - I don't like the lyn ending, much prefer Madeleine or Madeline.
Olivia - like it but it is soo popular
