Paisley WDYT?

About 8 years ago my son had a little friend who was 6 yo at the time named Paisley. It was the first time I had heard the name and at first it seemed weird but grew on me. I couldn't see myself using it but I noticed two others on birth announcements lately. It sounded a bit made up and hippiesque 8 years ago but it does have a current feel to it. What do you all think?

I love it -- It's very unique, yet classic... People can say it. My friend just had a Paisley Alizabeth...very sweet.

I would call it a bit hippyish myself, but about every third name right now seems to end with the -lee sound, so I don't think it would particularly stand out anymore.

I think that people need to realize that when you name your child a certain name, it may be cute to you but the child has to live with that name forever.

I agree to a certain extent about your child having to live with the name. Creative spelling is definitely a pet peeve of mine but so many kids have it now that it won't be "uncommon" in that generation of kids. It really does depend on the zeitgeist of the era. The same can be said about giving a kid a common but outdated name. My sister-in-law is 29 years old and has the name "Ruth". Let me tell you the horrendous and scarring stories she has told me about growing up with that name...

I have said it before and I will say it again, it has everything to do with your child's personality. If they are good looking, outgoing and smart it doesn't matter what their name is because as a person they will wear it well. If the child is shy and withdrawn a name they have to correct people on constantly or feel embarrassed by will have a huge impact. I was a Jennifer and hated it until I was an adult and that is about as common as you can get.

As for Michael on a girl, don't forget that one of the members of "The Bangles" was a Michael (Birth given name) and she is talented and gorgeous ;)

Okay, a bit off topic lol, back to Paisley...
