oh, we're so torn... i'm turning to you for your frank, honest feedback.
We've had a little boy -- three days ago and can't seem to decide on a name for him. I only wish he had been born with a nametag attached! :)
These are the final 2 names -- after much discussion. Evan or Henry... see combinations below.
Evan Henry Shaw
or
Henry Evan Shaw
Henry is a cherished family name -- which we both love. However, I'm concerned about the nickname "Hank". I'm just not a fan of the nickname "Hank"... but love Henry. I'm torn. Is Hank used much these days? Maybe it will grow on me? Oh hummmm............ I'm turning to you for your feedback. I know it will be honest.

They are both great, but I slightly prefer Henry Evan...and I wouldn't worry about Hank at all!
I think it's rare for a Henry to be called Hank nowadays - seems like it only happens if that's the nn his parents choose for him.
I think Henry Evan Shaw has a better flow to it than Evan Henry Shaw. I understand your concern about "Hank"; I don't like that nickname, either! Anyway, I've never heard of anyone really using Hank these days, except perhaps older gentlemen! Even if someone does use it, all you have to do is let them know that he goes by Henry, not Hank.
(I'm actually watching Punky Brewster on DVD right now, and George Gaynes's character is always telling people "I am a Henry...not a Hank!" That is all it takes, lol.)
