It's one of those names that I liked when it was uncommon, but it's lost a lot of sparkle by becoming a bit more trendy.

First two things I think of . . . bagpipes and the Pied Piper.

I don't totally dislike it. But it doesn't really appeal to me either. Seems more like a name for a pet than a child. Not sure why!

Honestly, it is not a very pretty name.

I've always liked it. It's not my all-time favorite name, but I definitely like it. The first time I ever heard it as a name was back in late 90s when actress Gillian Anderson had a baby and she named her Piper. I remember thinking it was such a cute and different name for a little girl. I think it would grow up well, too. I can picture Piper as a baby, little girl, teenager and grown woman. :)

i reallly adore Piper! spunky, girly, and womanly when she grows up.
you mentioned tvshow character name, but is also Piper Perabo.

also Piper can be a great nn for a few traditional names if prefer: Penelope, Phillipa.
but i think Piper is great all on her own. and possible nn Pippa, Peppy, Pepper, Pip, Pippy, Pei or Pei Pei (Hawaiian for Peg/Peggy)
