I've heard that parents in Brooklyn, NY do NOT name their children Brooklyn.

This got me wondering:

Do parents in the Dakotas name their children Dakota?
Do parents in Charlotte name their daughters Charlotte?
Do parents in Georgia name their daughters Georgia?
Do parents in Montana name their children Montana?
Do ... well, you get the idea.

I would guess no. A living example, I think the name Aurora is very pretty but wouldn't use it because it's the name of a nearby town.

I think it depends on the name, I live in Georgia, and I new a little girl at my old job as a preschool teacher named Georgia. There is also a town in Georgia called Grayson, and I also new several Grayson's at the school.

Adding to the Georgia thing...there are Ansleys popping up all over the place, it seems to me. I don't know how many of them are from Atlanta, though. It's never something I thought of as a name, but then I saw Peachtree Battle (the play) last time I was in Atlanta, and it seems like, ever since then, I've met or heard of at least a dozen little Ansleys...boys and girls.
