What do you think of the name Ava Raine? I really am iffy on it. i don't know if i like the Raine part. The Ava part is probably definite (unless i can get BF to agree to Annabelle the name i really love).

Please be truthful, i can take it as this is really my BF pick.

I'm not sure I'd pair Ava with the mn Raine, but I don't think it's a bad combination,

I'm with you ... Ava is beautiful and classic, but Raine looks very trendy next to it. Plus, since Ava is rather popular, pairing it with a trendy mn makes the whole name seem trendy (kind of cheapening it, KWIM?), while pairing it with something more classic or unique -- as long as it's a real name, of course LOL -- keeps it fresh.

Is it the actual word "rain" he likes for some reason, or just the sound of it? There are quite a few names that have a similar sound without the trendy word-name feel:

Renee -- a bit of a filler mn, though, and the endings are quite similar
Rhian -- ree-an; pretty close to "rain," but a name rather than a word
Rhianwen/Rhonwen
Rhiannon
Lorraine
Lauren

A few weeks ago there was a birth announcement in the paper for a baby named Jessica Raine. I remember it because I thought that the combo really made each name pop. In your case however I don't think that Ava Raine has the same quality. I love the name Ava it is so classic and pretty and I don't mind the name Raine but for some reason they just don't seem to go. However, I always think that middle names are rarely used so it more for your own personal satisfaction. If you and your DH love it and it has special meaning to you then I would go for it!
Hope that helps.

I think Ava Raine is pretty. It's a bit trendy, but could be lovely.

Another idea is Ava Belle (sounds similar to the name you love, but BF gets his pick too). Other ideas: Ava Brooke, Ava Blaine, Ava Danielle.

Well, after much discussion my BF gave me free rein on the middle name so Ava Belle is now a big probably :)

I was going to suggest Ava Lorraine - that pairs two classic, feminine names, while still giving him "Raine."

I love Ava! But my DF doesn't so that how we ended up with Avery. Ava Raine sounds to choppy to me. I definaltly recommend something longer.
