Hello there, i suppose most of our names would be viewed as hippish but we are not although we live a very environmental lifestyle. I am a professor of anthropology and my husband is a doctor. I doubt we'd ever actually use any of these but whatever name i choose i know it will probably have an obviousmeaning, to me, a name has to have meaning, theres no point in one that just sounds pretty.
Please construct your own shortlists, reasons and opinions are welcome, so long as they are reasonable!!! Lol.

where I put nms (not my style) I don't mean anything negative but that I don't feel as if I can judge the name very well because, it's not a name I'm familar with.

Interesting lists! Here are my thoughts-
Lux (saw the virgin sucides, not a great movie, very nice name tho!)-LOL, I like that movie! It's pretty weird, but the name definitly fit that charecter well. However, I don't care for it. It sounds very 'sexy', & that just isn't nice for a young girl.
Caelestis (cha-les-stis or sell-es-tis = italian and french.)-I'm sorry, but that's just too much.
Shyla-Eh, nms. It seems made up.
Skye-Lovely. That's our new kitten's mn! I like it a lot. It's simple yet still rather myjestic.
Blaze - i really love this name! -I don't know...I like it for a boy.
Shalya (Shahl-ya)-NMS.
Belladonia-That's bit much, but it does sound pretty.
Amethyst-I can't get into this one.
Sapphira (sa-feer-a)-That's nice, but I perfer just Sapphire.
Star-Hm, I think this would be better as a mn.
Liberty-That's alright.
Serenity-This one is nice.
Eternity (prefer this of the ty names)-Eh, not me. Serenity seems to have a much nicer meaning.
Chhaya (indian. Shy-a)-Ooh, that's kind of nice.
Ember-I don't care for that one.
Heaven-That's too much, sorry.
Whisper-This is diffacult to picutre on a child.
Tigerlily - love this!-I like it too, actually. I'd never ever have the guts to use it, but it's neat.
Aquila (a-qwil-a)-I don't care for that one.
Akila (a-kee-la)-Same as above.
Aya (eye-a)-That's arlight. I really like Isla said like Eye-luh. What do you think of that?
Shiloh (shy-low)-Gorgous! I like this for a boy or a girl actually.
Astra-I'm not sure I like how this starts w/'ass'.
Saphrielle -That's way too much.
Ashara-NMS.
Azara-Same as above.
Astara-Eh.
Tempest-Hey, isn't that Rudy on the Cosby Show's name? ;) It's nms, but I do like her.
Artemis (Ah-TEM-iss)-I love this for a boy.
Kyra/Lyra-Hm...I really like Kira said like Keer-uh. Ky-ruh isn't is attactive. It's kind of screechy.
Anania-That seems sort of diffacult to say, but I like. I love the nn Ani.
Zenith-That's nms.
River-I love this one for a boy.
Kaylet-Eh.
Nikita-That's nms.
Chiara (kee-ah-ra)-I like this a lot, but perfer just Ciara or Kiara.
Elchin -I don't know if I like the 'chin' in there.
Nimue - nim-oo-ay-Ooh, that's kind of nice.
Calliste (cal-i-stay)-Lovely.
Yesabel-That spelling seems a bit unessecery, sorry. What about just Ysabel?
Amaranthe (am-a-ran-thee)-That's too much, but it's neat.
Boys:
Maximilian (max-a-mil-yon)-I love it!!!
Raven-That's too trendy & feminine.
Tor (Torquin - Tor-keen)-Eh, that's alright.
Lucifer (i know, i know! It's a beautiful name tho! I know a jamaican man named Lucifer - honestly!)-I can see how you'd like the sound of it, but the association is just awful. What about Lucian?
Cassander-Hm, interesting.
Taliesin-I've never heard this one. It's alright.
Tiernan-That's excellent.
Lucien-Oh yes, there you go. Much better.
Auriel-Oh, I like that.
Rowan-Fabulous.
Ashling-That seems made up & feminine.
Alexi-I don't care for this one.

Nicholai (ni-ko-li)-That's not bad.
Cassiel-That reminds me of castor oil too.

Alexis-Yes, this is a boy name, but is still very popular for girls.
Caspian-That's cool. I just love the nn Cas.
Hope this helps!
I just finished a book & the men had these names that I liked. I probably wouldn't have used them, but I like how they sound and they aren't too strange. Maybe you'll want to add one to your list. I'm not sure of the meanings:
Tavey
Talis- DW called him Talley
Tariz
The females were not as creative.
Catherine
Hayden
Callie
