I like Orion from your boys list. How about Orion Altair?
From your girls list I like Azara, Aysha, and Katriell the best. Although I think Emerald could grow on me! How neat to have a name like Emerald! Yep, it's growing on me already! Good luck!
Boys:
Altair
Orion
Girls:
Azara
Mirari
Isha (ee-sha)
Ashera (asheera
Aysha (I-sha)
Kharis
Altaira (al-tayr-a)
I give you credit for hanging w/ this board even though it leans on the conservative side & your names, posted several times, are anything but conservative!
Anyway, I like Orion best from your boy list followed by Altair.
For girls I like Azara, Isha (ee-sha), Ashera (asheera), Zakira, Marantha/Mirantha, Tora, Aysha (I-sha), Saphira best. Hmmm... they all end in an "uh" sound!
You're right, none of them are really my style, but I'm happy to tell you the ones I like best. I think a lot of them are really pretty/unusual, even though I wouldn't choose them personally. I have something of an obsession with Greek Mythology, so quite a few of these leaped out at me.
For boys, Orion is far and away my favorite from your list. I think it's really interesting, it gives him the option later in life of shortening to Rion/Ryan if he just can't stand to have an unusual name (even if it's just a short phase) and I think Ori is a cute possible nn also. I also like Altair, though not nearly as much. I think with Raven and Mehri you are going to have issues with sounding like a girls name.
For girls my favorites are:
Ashera (asheera
Celestis (selestis)
Kharis
Katriell
Uma
Blaise
Sahara
Serenity
Pallas (pal-is)
Saphira
Altaira (al-tayr-a)
Clio
Kharis is my favorite (a name I've actually considered myself, though I prefer the Charis spelling). I thinks it's pretty and I love them meaning/mythological reference.
Pallas is not a name whose sound I would immediately love, but Athena has always been my favorite mythological figure and so this jumped out at me. I read a book once with a character named Pallas Dylan - it took me a little while to get used to it, but I wound up loving the name.
Calliope and Clio are my favorite muses, and I like either as a name. (Given your other choices, I was surprised Calliope didn't make your list, though it might make a better middle name)
On pure sound alone (not figuring in meanings/refences) Katriell is probably my favorite, followed closely by Ashera and Kharis.
Hope that helps a little. Good luck!
I left the ones I would potentially use. (and I'm the most eccentric namer on this board!)
Boy:
Orion
Blaise (was on your girls list, but it's a boys name and a male saints name, would be awesome on a boy!)
Mehri )I'd definitely use this in the middle, everyone and their third uncle will mangle it, otherwise)
Girls:
Solange (so-lahnz/sol-lawnz)
Katriel (only spelled this way)
Uma (I love this but think it might be a bit too Thurman these days)
Sapphira (spelled this way)
Sapphire
Clio
Altair
Orion
Blaze
Raven
Zephyr
Mehri
I don't like Mehri, Zephyr, or Blaze at all. The first two are too unrecognizable and hard to say. The last I just don't think of as a name. Altair is my favourite. I also like Raven, but I'm not sure how everyone would think of it on a boy. I know a little boy named Raven. I like it a lot, but I know he gets many mixed feelings on it. Most people call him Ray as a nn.
A lot of the girls names are too unrecognizable for me. I like Isha, Aysha, Celestis, Katriell, Altaira, and Sahara the best. I have a cousin named Isha, but she pronounces it the way you pronounce Aysha. I like that a lot.
BOY favourite: Altair 2nd- Raven
GIRL favourite: Aysha 2nd- Katriell
From your list i like:
Boys:
Altair & Mehri
Girls:
Estellia
Blaise
Saphira
Sapphire
Clio
Boys:
Orion
Blaze (I prefer the spelling Blaise, but Blaze is fine too)
Girls:
Venus
Serenity
Emerald
Clio (I prefer the spelling Cleo, but I like Clio too)
question about Lux. Is it pronounced like the name Luz? If so, I think I could like it. If not, I can't get on board.
Jayme, mom to Johnathan (1/16/01) and Ethan (10/15/03); Firecracker due 7/14/06
Boys:
Blaze
Altair
