Hi-Our baby is due in a week and we still haven't decided on names. We don't know if its a boy or a girl, so I have included names of both that we like.

So far we like the following girls names-

Rayann- A combo of his mn(Raymond) and my mn (Ann) no mn yet
Gianna Marie
Paige (no mn yet)
Brenna Ann
Stella Ray
Ruby Ann

Our boy list-
Nolan James
Gunnar
Dean
Neil Ray
Colt Robert

Please let me know what you think of these names. Any help with middle names would be great too! Thanks a bunch!

Oooh, you're getting so close! Here are my thoughts on the names:

Rayann- A combo of his mn(Raymond) and my mn (Ann) no mn yet- I do not like this as a first name, but I could deal with it as the mn since it's family names. But I'd still prefer them broken up into Ray or Ann, as you have below. Have you considered Rhianna or Rhiannon? It seems similar, but I like the sound much better.
Gianna Marie- I like Gianna OK, but sounds very ethnically Italian (as in I wouldn't use it unless you have Italian heritage). Is Marie a family name too? If not, I don't really like it very much.
Paige (no mn yet)- Paige is great! I really like it. Paige Rhiannon would be cute.
Brenna Ann- Brenna is NMS, I've never known one I've liked, so it has influenced my opinion on the name.
Stella Ray- I LOVE this!!! It is so spunky and cute, yet feminine. My favorite of these!
Ruby Ann- Very pretty. It would be my second pick from your list.

Our boy list-
Nolan James- Very good name- nice combo of fn and mn.
Gunnar- OK, but I'd prefer others on this list over it. Plus, it's such an overtly violence association (literally one who shoots guns!) that I would not use it.
Dean- Very cool! Dean Raymond or Dean Nolan would sound nice.
Neil Ray- Seems very dated.
Colt Robert- I'd prefer Colton. Even then, I think Dean or Nolan are better choices.

So, my favorites for girls: Stella Ray, then Ruby Ann, and then Paige Rhiannon.

My favorites for boys: Nolan James, Dean Raymond, and then Colton Robert.

Good luck! Let us know what you decide!

Liz

Here are my thoughts:

Rayann- I love this name, however, if it is a combo of your names, what happens for child #2? Might pose a problem in the future. Other than that, I love it.
Gianna Marie - Pretty and unique.
Paige - I like Paige. Some middle names I like with Paige are Kelly, Christine, Brianne,Michelle.
Brenna Ann - I love Brenna, but not so fond of Ann with this name. Maybe Brenna Anise, Brenna Michelle, Brenna Aileen ...or maybe even Brenna Rayann?
Stella Ray - I don't like this at all. I'm just not very fond of Stella. Especially paired with Ray.
Ruby Ann - I like Ruby, but I think it needs to be paired with a more powerful middle name. Perhaps Ruby Gianna?

Our boy list-
Nolan James - I like this one! Sounds strong.
Gunnar - Not so fond of this one.
Dean - I like Dean Logan, Dean Mason, Dean Lucas.
Neil Ray - Don't like this one at all.
Colt Robert - Don't like these two together, since they both end in T, sounds too harsh. Colt Matthew? Or Colt Raymond, Colt Patrick, Colt Andrew, Colt Joseph.

Rayann- Like that it is taken from family names, but dislike the name itself. Prefer it as a mn
Gianna Marie- Nice, but Marie is SUCH a common mn, go with something more unique! Gianna Rayann would work.
Paige (no mn yet)- cute, but a bit boring. I like it though, just nothing special
Brenna Ann- Love this! Great combo, great use of a family name
Stella Ray- Stella Ann would be better, Ray is a boy's name. If you use it for a girl, spell it Rae. LOVE Stella! Awesome choice
Ruby Ann- Gorgeous

The first half of your list is just okay to me, but Brenna, Stella, and Ruby are all simply GORGEOUS and love the use of family names as mn's.

Our boy list-
Nolan James- Love Nolan, James is too common. Nolan Ray would be much nicer.
Gunnar - too violent (think of guns) not a great association
Dean - very strong, LOVE it
Neil Ray- like this, a bit outdated, but I think it could work
Colt Robert- nmsaa, really dislike Colt

Rayann- looks made-up and your daughter will spend her entire life correcting the spelling of her name. I would avoid this name. If you love it, then I would use it as a mn.
Gianna Marie - ok not my favorite, but this is a nice name
Paige (no mn yet) - IMO Paige is dated, Paige Rayann sounds nice
Brenna Ann - I like Brenna, but the flow doesn't work well...what about Brenna Rayann
Stella Ray - LOVE IT!
Ruby Ann - PERFECT! This is my favorite.

Nolan James - Nolan is a big hit on this board, but it is not my favorite
Gunnar - dated - what about Archer?
Dean - LOVE THIS!!!! Dean William, Dean Miller, Dean Michael, Dean Andrew, Dean Robert...
Neil Ray - ok not my fav
Colt Robert - there are lots of little boys named Colt in my area (Texas). What about Wyatt or Weston? Weston Robert is a great combo.

Good luck,
Brooke

I like Rayann since it would have a significant meaning. Would you consider spelling it slightly different, Raeann. I think the y is masculine.

I love Nolan. Nolan James or Nolan Dean.

Not a big fan of Gunnar.

Hi there. Congrats on your little bundle! Here are my thoughts on the lists:

Rayann- A combo of his mn(Raymond) and my mn (Ann) no mn yet-I'm sorry, but that's really goofy & made up. It's nice to give a child a name that has history, & is not just something that you created.

Gianna Marie-Ooh, this is nice. Gianna is really pretty & uncommon. I like the nn Gigi too.

Paige (no mn yet)-That's a bit ho-hum. They're are a ton of little Paiges running around, & it's just a bit bland imo.

Brenna Ann-This is nms, but it could be worse.

Stella Ray-I love Stella! It's very dramatic & beautiful. What's wrong w/Stella Ann? I think that if you have a baby girl you might as well honor Mom & use a girl name in the middle.

Ruby Ann-This is perfectly nice.

Our boy list-

Nolan James-Very dashing.

Gunnar -I don't like this. The 'gun' part is quite a turn off.

Dean -Aw, that's darling.

Neil Ray-I like Neil; very cute.

Colt Robert-I don't mind Colt, but it seems sort of short. What about Colton nn Colt?

Hope this helps!

Of your girl names, I love both Stella and Ruby!

Can't get into Stella Ray, however, since it's literally "star ray." A bit too obvious, KWIM? Ramona is a feminine form of Raymond, FWIW (though Stella and Ramona both end in "a," if that bothers you). Estelle Ramona, nn Stella, would be great, though. ;) Raymonde is also a feminine form, with the emphasis on the end of the name rather than beginning (kind of like ray-MAWND). Stella Raymonde works.

If you wanted, you could also use a longer form of Ann in honor of your mn. Ruby Annelise, for example (but there are many more). From namenerds.com:

Annika, Annelise, Annabel, Annette, Anita, Anais, or a name that ends in -ann, such as Marianne, Vivianne (you get the idea)

Nolan and Neil are my favorites from your boy list (love them both as well ). Nolan James is an excellent combo, but I'd use a longer mn with Neil. Neil Ray is rather abrupt, both being short, single-syllable names, KWIM? Neil Redmond -- also a form of Raymond -- would be wonderful, however!
