on GRACIE!!! We are bd and we have a boys name picked out. We talk about Will all the time but we can't talk about our girl the same way b/c we do not have a name picked out. I have lost so many names that I love b/c I didn't claim them out loud. I never cared that much before b/c we weren't trying but now we are and I really want a girls name claimed and decided on. I have a lot of friends that change their mind when pregnant but I don't want to be arguing on names when pregnant. Please Help.

Every name I suggest my DH says that is "okay." The only name he loves and keeps going back to is Gracie. I like it but think it is way overused now, but is it? All of the Grace's we know are double names and no one goes by Gracie. He thinks this a perfect "princess" name. (girly, sweet, classic, etc. - is what he means) I am also not sure how Gracie Watson flows either? WDYT? He doesn't like anything off the wall, and I do not like unisex names b/c I grew up w/ one. We definetly want a classic GIRL name. A name that everyone knows is girl and can spell. The only other name he warms up to is Livi. Again, Olivia is so popular at the moment but I do not here any Livi's!

Any suggestions? Thanks so much!!!

I do believe that Grace and Gracie are very common now and from what I understand, you seem to want her name to be somewhat unique but still classic and girly.
Here are a few suggestions:

Georgia
Camille (Cammie?)
Eva
Lydia (Lydie?)
Tess
Elise
Corinne
Phoebe
Mallory

Livi can also be a nn for Elizabeth.

We know some people who named their little girl Willa Grace. When I heard it, I kept thinking to myself, "I know I've heard that name before." Finally, it dawned on me that it was from the show Will & Grace. FUNNY! I wonder if they thought about that before they named her. Anyway, Grace is a nice name, but it is way overused--where I live, there are tons of Graces and Gracies, and lots of people use it as a middle name too. It's one that I would stay away from, just for that reason. There are other cute names that sound similar. What about Macy or Macie? My sister is named Macy, and it's been just a great name for her. She's almost 22 now, and it's just the perfect name--not one that she's outgrown or that seems too cutesy for an adult woman. There's always Casey, Kacie, Kacy, Lacie, Lacey, Laney (I think that one's nice), Cassie, Kazzie (my DD's name), Cassidy (nn Cassie), I could go on and on.... : )

Good luck!

Thanks for your input. I have mentioned the Will & Grace thing to DH before and he didn't care, said the show was over. It is in sydication though, I think? He didn't think people would make that connection. He keeps going back to Livi and Gracie no matter what I suggest!?!?!?! I don't know what to do.

William is from his father, paternal grandfather, and my maternal grandfather. (IT was their mn so no one used it.)

Hardy is from my father and paternal grandfather. (my maiden name)

I never really liked naming children after people before but this just fits for us and it covers every grandfather except 2 (which we didn't know them). All of these people have passed away (except for DH father) and were special to us. Will is very common we live right now as well, but b/c of the meanings we do not care. We LOVE this name.

I just wished we could find the right fit like this for a girl. We do not like any girl names in the family. The only thing I would like to continue is a name that begins w/ the letter D. The are a lot of D names in the family. I would really like to use the name Dale somehow in a girls name. (Even though it would more than likely be a mn.)
Any more suggestions would be great!!

Sorry this is so long!
Thanks!

hello!! i feel for you cuz i have the same problem with my hubby-lol. i come up with girl names all the time and every time i bring a new one up-dh goes "no...." or "are you kidding??"(sometimes our tastes are a lil different-lol). i like olivia...and my youngest dds middle name is grace. each time i was pregnant, i changed their names and my mind so much-and i almost switched my lil ones name the day before i gave birth-lol. (im glad i didnt cuz i love her name now-and the other name i almost picked was a lil more common-hannah.) we have an isabelle grace and a violet rose-when i was pregnant violet was going to be either samantha or lillian and isabelle was going to be kirsten. like i said, i changed my mind soooo often-lol-i like will for a boy, but that one is pretty common too. i think olivia and grace sound just fine with watson. william is a lil bit of a tongue twister with the double w's. good on trying to concieve-hopefully you get your wish soon!!

I know you mentioned not really liking unisex names, but Dale is one. There are lots of men/boys with the name Dale, but really only a few females with the name that I know of. The most prominent one being Dale Evans.

That being said, what about these combos:

Olivia Dale Watson
Evelyn Dale Watson
Aviva Dale Watson -nn Vivi
Dale Olivia Watson
Dale Grace Watson - nn Gracie
Kaylan Dale Watson
Cassandra Dale Watson
Dale Marie Watson
Dale Renee Watson

Some to think about. HTH

I have been racking my brain trying to come up w/ a girl's name using Dale. I really don't like Dale, I'm trying to come up w/ a D name using Dale. The only one I can think of is Dalyn? That one doesn't really strike me either. I see the name Devanie on the board a lot, is it like Delaney but w/ a V instead of the L? I like Delaney but DH doesn't. I would really like to find a D name for mn.
Thanks.
