Hello Everyone,
I am desperate for help! I have a three and a half week old son that is still nameless, shame on me! I am having a crisis over name choices. Before he was born, we had a ton of girls names choices but almost no boys, since I loved the name Finn so much, I knew I would choose it. Ever since I was little I thought it sounded so heroic... and unique. My parents are both Irish and they used to tell me stories about Finn Maccuil, so it had resonance. Wel... I was blissfully unaware that Julia Roberts had named her son Phinneus and was going to shorten it to "Finn" So maybe this shouldn't affect my choice, but it does, I am terrified that it is going to become popluar. The thing is I know myself and if there's two ( or gasp, even one) Finn or Finns in his class I will be disturbed! In otherwords, I DON'T want a trendy name. Compunding the problem is the fact that I cannot find any name charts for 2005 ANYWHERE on the web! Does anyone know how I can find these up to date figures? 2004 does me no good in making a choice. If I could find out for SURE if Finn was wildly poular in 2005 I would just abandon it. Esp. when Julia only had her son in 2004...I don't know what to do, I feel sort of petty being hung up on originality but that's the way I am. Should I resort to a backup? Though its rather bizarre that it sounds alike, I love the name "Flynn" as well. Has anyone heard of lots of new little Finns being born in their neighbourhoods? Be honest with me, I can take it. I need help I seriously don't know what to do, I feel guilty not having given my little sweetheart a name, I was so sure he would be Finn .. ( after I realized he wasn't going to be a girl, which is what I thoughtafter someone I met who claoimed to be psychic predicted it!!) Help is MIGHTILY appreciated, thank you...not much time left, must register... Circe

Finn is adorable. Here's another vote for you to use it. I am a nurse who works with new moms and babies and if it helps calm your jitters, I have not heard a single Finn or Flynn among them in the past 3.5 years of working there. And I ask all my moms their baby's name because I'm a name nut!
Use it. I'm sure your baby will be special to you and those you love even if there is another Finn in a 300 mile radius somewhere. :)

I'm pregnant for the first time and somehow have managed to stick with the name I liked from the beginning because its only my choice and I feel good about it. Also, I know people with the same name as the one I like, but you can't let that discourage you fom what you want to name your child, your child might have the same name but carries their own personality. I have never heard of your choice names, so your safe around my area.
