I adore Lily as a nickname...I know it is used as a shortened form of Elizabeth but could it also work as a shortened form of Caitlin?

I can't see a connection (and I can bend pretty far to see connections.) Sorry!

Could you use either as a middle name? Like Caitlin Lily... nn Lily... or Lily Caitlin.

In addition to Lily not seeming like a good "fit" as a nn for Caitlin, the two names have very different "feels" to them It seems like the nn and the name should have the same "feel" IMHO. Elizabeth and Lily are both old-fashioned, classic names whereas Caitlin is a much more recent, even trendy, name and Lily just doesn't match it. I'm sorry!

I'm sorry, i don't see a connection either. Not that I see one with Lily and Elizabeth (and have never heard of that as a nn for Elizabeth). The only ones i can think of are Lilith or Lillian or Lilliana, as a pp said. You could use it as a fn, and Caitlin as a mn. Or, a double fn... Lily-cait, or however you want to spell it. Good Luck!

No, I can't see Lily as a plausible nickname for Caitlin. Could you use Caitlin as a middle name (Lily Caitlin), or go with Caitlin Lily and call her by her middle name?

I'd use Linny or Linni or Linnie as a nn for Caitlin before I used Lily. I agree with the others, it's a bit of a stretch. Especially since Lily is a bona fide name on its own. I think it would be confusing, kind of like she has two first names that are used interchangeably

Im the same i love Lily for nn but not for a name - i really dont think Lily could stretch for a nn for Caitlin.. What about Lilah or Layla? I personally like Lilah better for Lily :P HTH
