Maxine is a name I have really been thinking about lately. I find it absolutely stunning- so spunky and refreshing. It easily gmv.

I have to suggest against using "Gracie". This is a nickname- not a full name! I have to say that as an adult, I would feel completely ridiculous using "Gracie" on a resume or even when just meeting new people. If you love Gracie, at least use Grace and call her Gracie as a nn, although I do think that Grace as a whole is getting overdone.

You picked out some beautiful names. Just one thing--I don't want to keep you from using a name you love, but you know how children can be teased about their names and such. Did you know Samara is the name of the evil girl in the movie "The Ring" and "The Ring Two". I just thought I would mention that since it was the first thing I thought of when I saw the name.

It's the first thing I think of when I see "Samara", too.

Samara is one of my favorites!; I love it.

I wouldn't worry about "The Ring." Think for a moment about how many Jasons, Michaels, and Regans have been born since "Friday the 13th," "Halloween," and "The Exorcist." A fictional character from a movie is no reason to turn your back on a fabulous name, imo.

I agree with Allie about Samara. I think it is a beautiful name and I wouldn't let the movie discourage you from using it. We decided to go with Damian for this baby and not one person has made a comment about Damian from the Oman (I figured I would get that comment a lot). It is just a dumb movie and if everyone decided not to use names because they were used in a horror movie then there would be no names left to use. :)

I didn't mean not to use Samara, if that's what the OP chooses. It IS a pretty name. It's just important, imo, to be aware of any connotations people will have with a name, before you make it official. If something bothers you to the point of not wanting to use a name, it's better to know about it beforehand, KWIM? It's just being prepared. :)

I voted for Samara - I just don't get why Sadie is so popular on this board - it's a NICKNAME - it sounds far too nick-namey - and to makae it worse, I've just known way too many dogs with this name. I also, when I was a little kid, had 3, yes 3, very elderly aunts named Sarah, who ALL went by the nickname Sadie.

Sage is OK, Gracie also is too nick-namey (Grace is SOOOOO popular, but better to name her Grace and call her Gracie), Maxine - eh, just out-dated I think.

Samara is pretty, very lyrical, melodious sound, don't hear it a lot (I know all of 2).

good luck
