I am very picky on names because i have been looking for something uncommon (i have the very common name of ashley and had at least two other ashley's in all my classes growing up) but yet i dont want it to sound too weird and just be asking for my april arriving daughter to be teased. My fiance' is very hard to work with on the name search because he doesn't like unusual names and has only suggested one name: alexis. Which i like but i have finally found i like more but can not think of any middle names to fit with it. The name is Mackenzie. I have thought of the middle name Jade but im kinda unsure on it. If any of you could please make any suggestions i would love it i don't wanna search through a million baby books. O and the last name is Miller. Thanks!!

Oh goodness, if you are looking for something unique, Mackenzie is NOT the way to go! Mackenzie is probably the trendiest girls name out there right now and it is quickly becoming outdated. But if you love it...
Mackenzie Simone
Mackenzie Corinne
Mackenzie Elise

If I were you, I would make a post asking for unique baby girl name suggestions, and I'm sure we could give you tons of great ideas. Mackenzie and Alexis are both reeeallly trendy.

Just a note of caution, but Mackenzie is VERY popular and trendy (meaning it fits in with a bunch of similar, equally-popular/trendy names -- Michaela/McKayla/Makayla, McKenna/Makenna, Kenzie, Kayla, etc.). Mackenzie itself is in the top 50 most popular names (and two other spellings are within the top 200 or so). Then, of course, it also fits in with the masculine, "son of" naming trend for girls, along with Madison (long-time top ten), Addison, Emerson, etc.
Alexis has been in the top ten for nearly a decade (only slightly dropping to 11 and 13 in the past two years). Alex- names in general are extremely popular for both sexes -- Alexandra is 37, Alexa 65, and Alexander is number 12 for boys. Just look at any random group of birth announcements and you're bound to see the Alex- names a number of times.
To compare, depending on what year you were born, Ashley may have been much LESS popular than the names you're considering (it was 255 in 1971, and didn't get higher than 67 until 1980, reaching top ten status by 1983).
Not trying to be negative, but I know many first-time parents (if you are a first-time parent LOL) are unfamiliar with current naming trends and can be quite disappointed to learn the "unique, uncommon" name they chose for their child is anything but. Always better to find out before the birth certificate is filled out, KWIM?
If you absolutely love the name despite it's popularity, great! Just thought you might appreciate a heads-up since you specifically wanted an uncommon name.

Welcome Ashley. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but like Nikki said both Alexis and Mackenzie are common names....so sorry! It is hard to hear that after you have struggled to find a name you like and then to find out how common they are. On the Social Security list of popular baby names, Alexis ranks #13 and Mackenzie is a little less common #50. For a name not to be repeated in a class it is best to find something not in the top 100.
Here are some less common names that are similar to Alexis and Mackenzie:
Noelle
Alexandria, nn Alex
Alicia
Sadie
Cassandra, nn Cassie
Cassidy
Delaney
Chelsea
Camila/Camille
Mallory
Lila
Clara
Tessa
Cecilia/Cecile/Cecily
Aurora, nn Rory
Iris
Fiona
Brenna
Do you like any of these?
In regards to the mn, I really like Jade. It is short, pretty, and fits with almost all names. I say go with Jade.
Other names that are similar to Jade are:
Ashe - honors you :)
Brynn
Greer
Pearl
Wynne
Ruth
True
Tyne
Lane/Layne
The first thing that popped into my head is Mackenzie Paige, also:
Mackenzie Brynn
Mackenzie Lila
Mackenzie Lauren
Mackenzie Blaire
Mackenzie Charlotte
Mackenzie Brooke
Mackenzie Christine
Mackenzie Danielle
Mackenzie Taylor
Mackenzie Elizabeth
Sorry for any repeats.
